After an offseason void of attractive offers in free agency, Randy Moss is retiring at age 34. Moss, who bounced around three NFL teams last season, is just two years removed from his last Pro Bowl.
But it’s no surprise Moss hasn’t drawn big checks this offseason. At 34, Moss is arguably too old for a lengthy contract; and if he wasn’t too old, he’s a risky head case who could quickly make teams regret a contract more than one or two years in length.
So we bid adieu to Moss and wish him a healthy retirement. His career numbers are certainly remarkable: 954 receptions, 14,848 receiving yards, and 153 touchdowns make him one of the most prolific wide receivers of his or any other generation. In fact, those 153 receiving touchdowns put him second all-time, behind only Jerry Rice.
No doubt about it: if the dust does indeed settle and Moss remains retired, the next stop on his ride into the sunset is Canton, Ohio.
