When Seattle took DE Bruce Irvin in the first roiund everyone was in shock. I remember thinking what a great pick, because the Seahawks had a great scheme to put the thin passer rusher in. Well he is continuing to shine, yesterday he had two sacks in Week 5 and is up to 4.5 for the season.  The Seahawks have already posted 16 sacks in five games this year after managing just 33 all of last season. Irvin’s burst off the edge as a situational pass rusher has been a big part of that. Tom Brady and the Patriots offense will have their hands full with this swarming unit in Week 6.  Irvin could finish the season with 10 plus sacks, which is what his head coach felt he could get if given the opportunity.

Seahawks' Best Defense in NFL Will Provide Dangerous Matchup for Patriots' Offense Sunday

Pete Carroll has quietly been building an immoveable force over in the Pacific Northwest and it's time to take notice. Through five games, the Seahawks lead the NFL in total defense, allowing just 258.6 yards per game. What's scarier is how well balanced the team is. They're fifth in pass yards allowed (192 per game) and third in rushing yards allowed (66.6 per game)...

Cam Newton has another poor performance in loss to the Seahawks

For as much promise as Cam Newton and the Panthers showed just a season ago, they've shown nothing but disappointment so far in 2012, dropping to 1-4 following today's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Once again, Cam Newton couldn't find his rhythm, completing less than 50% of his passes on the day. The bad news is, help is not on the way. The Panthers have their bye...

Seattle defense overcomes mistakes

Considering the unique challenges the Carolina offense presented, Pete Carroll believes the Seattle Seahawks' defensive performance against the Panthers could be the best since he returned to the NFL as Seattle's coach in 2009. Replacement ref stands by Packers-Seahawks Hail Mary call

Lance Easley may go down as one of the most infamous NFL officials of all time, and he only officiated a few regular-season games. As you probably know, Easley is the referee who ruled that Packers cornerback M.D. Jennings and Seahawks receiver Golden Tate had simultaneous possession on this Hail Mary play that gave Seattle a win over Green Bay. The replay appeared to show Easley...

Seahawks top Panthers 16-12

The Seattle Seahawks need their tough defense to make things easier on rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. The plan worked perfectly against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. Wilson threw the go-ahead touchdown pass to Golden Tate late in the third quarter, while the defense frustrated Newton and the Panthers throughout Sunday's 16-12 road win. Wilson threw for a season...
