Baltimore Ravens cornerback Cary Williams shoved a referee while the teams had a dust-up following Colin Kaepernick’s interception in the second quarter of the Super Bowl. Williams was lucky he avoided an ejection considering making contact with a referee calls for a player to be thrown out of a game immediately.

The interception was the first ever thrown by a San Francisco 49ers quarterback in a Super Bowl. It was the second turnover of the quarter for the 49ers, but it luckily did not lead to any points for Baltimore. The Ravens elected to run a trick play on a fourth-and-nine from the 14, and kicker Justin Tucker was a yard short of gaining a first down.

The Ravens won the game 34-31, and benefited from Williams making some key plays later in the game. They’re lucky he wasn’t ejected.

  • took away alot from the game after big build up on super dome. no more games there and its the superbowl to boot. shame on you new orleans
  • I was pretty disgusted by several thrown punches and shoves by Baltimore players during the game, and I didn't care who won. I don't usually watch NFL games, so maybe that is allowed/expected? I am a college football fan where good sportsmanship is required and physical violence between players is penalized.
  • I could not care less who won just wanted to see a good match but the NFL ruined that. Williams should have been sent off along with the backjudge who did not call pass interference on #22 and then for the NFL to have the nerve and say they do not like calling in the last couple of minutes. It does not matter if it is the first 2 or the last 2 minutes, interference is interference. Wonder WHY Baltimore got these and many more favors...............what a CLASS outfit
  • I agree you shouldn't touch the Ref ,but he was so mad about the 49er jamming his cleats in his back he lost it!!! Kick him out, yes, kick out the back stomper, hell yes, remind you of anyone?
  • Nobody got stomped dumba$$
  • No excuse for turning on a Ref, they are just "trying to keep order out there" and that is seemingly getting much harder to do with the low mentality hoodlums playing in the games anymore. Just proves an earlier point of mine, that the Ravens are a bunch of low life punks. there actions speak louder than words.

Ravens Cary Williams, a classless act

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Cary Williams may be a decent corner in the NFL, but his statements after Super Bowl XLVII were classless. Cary Williams pushes referee after 49ers-Ravens melee

There was a scrum between the Ravens and 49ers after Ed Reed made a huge interception in the second quarter.  Cary Williams, in an attempt to get at a 49ers player, shoved a referee and for some strange reason was not ejected.  Williams made some big players in the game, and deflected a few passes that would have been huge completions. This to me is pretty much inexcusable.  I...

Cary Williams: “The 49ers are pretenders. They’re fake tough guys”

After Sunday night’s Super Bowl win, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Cary Williams told Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun that the 49ers are “pretenders.” “The 49ers are pretenders. After long delay, 49ers score touchdown

A power outage that lasted 34 minutes paused the play in the Super Bowl. On the second full possession after power came back on, the San Francisco 49ers finally got on the board. Colin Kaepernick hit Michael Crabtree, who bounced off of Cary Williams and Bernard Pollard, for a touchdown. The Ravens lead 28-13 with a little more than seven minutes to go in the third quarter.

Congratulations, Ravens

As unexcited as I was about the teams participating in this year’s Super Bowl, congratulations are still in order to the winner. So here is a tip of the hat to the Baltimore Ravens, along with as many nice things as I can muster. (Sorry it isn’t a longer list.) A sincere, heart-felt congratulations to Bobbie Williams on collecting a ring. He was nothing but class in his 8 years...
