In the video above, you get a fine look at that awkward moment when ESPN analysts talk candidly about a player while on the air. The only catch was, as you saw, Hannah Storm and Mark Schlereth didn't realize they were on live. While it's not that big of a deal, it is interesting to hear Schlereth's insight into the potential for Tim Tebow to switch from being a quarterback to being a tight end. The transcript is below. Hannah Storm: The what? Mark Schlereth: It's like a tight-end/h-back? Storm: Oh yeaaaah. Well that's interesting. Schlereth: But I'm going to tell you. I talked to a bunch of Broncos coaches who said 'I just don't know if he's a fluid enough athlete to go over and play tight end ... they say he doesn't catch the ball naturally either Storm: Well if that's the case. Oh. OK, OK. Sure, sure. [H/T Deadspin] [follow]

  • A big joke,needs to pray more.....
  • the man can play ball,he's got millions why don't you pray for that joke in the white house.
  • I heard no hating on Tebow. What I heard was the guy on the right saying "what if" Tebow switched to tight end and the uncertainty of his ability to catch the ball.

As for Hannah Storm, she was just pondering the thought.

Tebow should be playing half-back, a-la Paul Horning.
  • Mark has previously spoken about Tebow with almost a personal animosity toward him. Don't understand why.
  • there are numerous QBs in the NFL that really sucks,Why not let him play and shut the #### up!
  • Sounds like a black reporter wanted to "out" two white reporters whose job he is envious of...get a life brother.
  • Tim Tebow makes a great many in the sportsworld uncomfortable because he indirectly makes them feel guilty about the immoral lives (we all lead) they lead. So, there is some natural animosity towards Tim. A man just trying to earn a living doing what he wants to do. And he has the great gift of speaking his mind and actually living out what he believes. On tv, i.e. ESPN, there are four people that go out of their merry way to denounce him, Trent Dilfer, Chris Carter, Mark Schlereth and Steeler running back from the 80's, I forget his name, oh yea, Merril Hoge.
  • how is doubting Tebow a "mistake"?
  • Will this BS never end ?
  • When the networks get rid of all the "A"holes
  • Do know who leaks all this stuff out to the media... I dont have to tell you how they look! They smile in your face all the time they want to take your place! lol
  • Remarkable how many people have pegged Tebow as a "poor" QB when his record as a QB is pretty good. Oh wait...that is when coaches let Tebow play as a QB. When they make Tebow play as something else he isn't that good. Maybe Tebow should do start doing commentary on how well Schlereth does as an attorney. Oh wait...Schlereth isn't an attorney. Guess that makes him a lousy sportscaster. And, before you say that doesn't make any sense...I know! Now, go back and look at Tebow's record as a QB and explain why no one discusses his actual record as a QB. If you want to discuss Tebow's throwing style and why you believe this makes him a poor QB..back it up the conversation with stats not opinion.
  • The haters will never let up on Tim. I guess they wish they had a lion cage.
  • Give Tebow a shot at TE. He almost caught the ball with his helmet once.
  • Duhhhhhh Until you give him an honest chance, how can you judge him ... Trent Dilfer was an abomonation at Tampa, yet went on to win a super bowl when given a chance ....
  • It's Funny, Tebow can't throw,.. Tebow can't catch, Tebow can't run..... but yet he has been in the NFL for three years now..( and getting a big paycheck).. a lot of the ex-players and ESPN reporters wish they could say played in the NFL.. haters hate... I wish I was in the NFL making a big paycheck. I'll ride the bench with no problem... I'll be the teams biggest fan.
  • Animosity towards Tebow because he's moral? Does kneeling and pretending to pray in front of millions make him moral? I don't think so. Jesus said to get in your closet, but, my bet is Tebow's never muttered a silent prayer in his life. He's just a big Republican crybaby. They're all alike. Every one.
  • this is stupid.they didn't say anything derogatory about tim with the exception that he may not be able to play tight end or catch the ball.i personally can't see what the problem is.he can't do any worse than last year jax qb.after all the success he had in college and at den he deserves a chance.sportscasters that downplay him are dumb.the ones that are waiting for him to fail shouldn't even be broadcasters.sfo qb plays a similar game and look at the team around him?
  • Wow John, your logic is so remarkable! You must have voted for our leader of change that has done such a great job! By the way, how many silent prayers have you muttered?
  • the den fans seemed to accept and like him along with some players that became known because he brought their game up.who knew of decker and other players whose names escape me that are know well known now.i'm old enough to remember the bklyn dodgers where the fans loved the team and the announcers always said positive things on air and off.todays sportscasters seem to think it's their duty to beat up someone to keep their job.
  • John M. Conley...do your comments apply to RG III as well? Or are they only reserved for white QB Christians who openly profess their faith?
  • Tim Tebow WILL prove his critics wronng. Tim can RUN, he can PASS and he can kick your f&(*$ing aXXX.
LOOK what Tim accomplished @ Florida Gators. His T.E. Hernandez went to the Patriots. Maybe Billicheck will acquire Tebow and use him in the backfield like a fullback a "U"back or whatever.
Is the public BLIND to what Tim Tebow did against Urlacher & the Bears and Palomalu and the Steelers? He ran over, around and thru the defense. RUNNING. He runs like Larry Csonka. (If you don't know who Csonka is GOOGLE him.) We will see the true Tebow next season if he doesn't get a joke-of-a-coach like Rex Ryan.

RUMORS & GOSSIP

Has Blake Griffin taken the next step?

Watching Blake Griffin play basketball over the past two games really got me thinking. This was, at least in my opinion, one of the most overrated players in the NBA over the past couple years. Sure Griffin is 6’10” and 251, but too often we saw him get thrown off the low post by smaller, more physical big men. The outside game was surely there, and Griffin has always possessed...

Leading up to the NFL Draft, the question of whether the Buccaneers would select Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota with the No. 1 overall pick was one that was often asked. Titus Young will not face prison time for felony assault charges, stemming from his strange, violent behavior in 2013. Instead, the Los Angeles County Superior Court has given him a chance to change his ways, giving him five years probation, rather than lock him up. According to David Leon Moore of USA TODAY Sports, a one-year stay at Crosby Center, an inpatient treatment and therapy...

The NBA needs to leave 'hack-a-whoever' rules alone

There’s conversation going on in NBA circles regarding the intentional fouling of poor free-throw shooters in playoff games. Some of that conversation is going on right here at this site. My colleague Matt Zemek makes the case that allowing “Hack-A-Player” strategies rewards the breaking of the rules and should be eliminated. I disagree on two fronts. First, I am adamantly...
