PLAYERS: Scotty McKnight
TEAMS: New York Jets

Via Helmet2Helmet:

For well over a year, Hayden Panettiere and Scotty McKnight were going strong as one of the popular “it” couples.

Though, like many — if not all — of those relationships, it’s come to an end.

According to TMZ, Panettiere and McKnight have officially broken up.

Sources tell the gossip site that the split occurred a few weeks ago, but the two remain “really good friends” and “will probably be back together sometime down the road.”

The 23-year-old Panettiere and 24-year-old McKnight began dating last July. In that time, Panettiere has starred in the show Nashville, whereas McKnight has failed to hold down a job.

A 2011 seventh-round pick of the Jets, McKnight, a wide receiver, spent his rookie season on the team’s practice squad before landing on IR with a torn ACL. He was re-signed by New York in March, but subsequently waived less than five months later and is currently a free agent.

McKnight shouldn’t feel too bad, however. Despite this news, he’s infinitely better off than Mark Sanchez, his childhood best friend who persuaded the Jets to draft him. Plus he avoided that whole cursed jersey thing.

In times such as these, it’s all about perspective.

Rex Ryan: Tebow probably disappointed with Jets

What was hinted at a few weeks ago has been all but confirmed: Tim Tebow is largely unhappy with the Jets. "That's probably a true statement, as a competitor you want to have success, you want...

New York Jets – Somehow Very Relevant In December

The New York Jets are a deeply flawed football team. There is a frustrating level of dysfunction in the front office and a concerning lack of talent spread throughout the roster. Yet, when you strip away all the media backlash and punchlines…the Jets are an overachieving mediocre team. Through 13 regular season games, there is 17 teams with an outright better record than them,...

Braylon Edwards back with the "Idiots"

The New York Jets, as expected, claimed receiver Braylon Edwards off waivers after he was officially released by the Seattle Seahawks. But then again, the Jets are mathematically still in...

Jets pick up Braylon Edwards off waivers

In a bit of irony, The Jets have picked up their former wideout, Braylon Edwards off of waivers. If you recall it was just last week that Braylon referred to Jets management as “idiots” for the way they’ve handled QB Mark Sanchez. But apparently the Jets are forgiving. The Jets were trying to trade for [...]

Patriots Fan’s Pleasure: The Jets Were Even A JOKE In The 80′s, See Mark Gastineau (PHOTO)

(PHOTO: Buzzfeed Sports) Wow, when I saw this poster of NY Jets linebacker Mark Gastineau from the 1980′s, I did TWO THINGS: Laughed my ASS off THREW UP in my mouth There is NO disputing that Gastineau was a great pass rusher, but he was the GEICO caveman before the GEICO caveman. Patriots quarterbacks of the era, Steve Grogan and Tony Eason may have feared Gastineau on the gridiron...

ESPN president: Enough with the Tebow coverage

ESPN president John Skipper told producers what NFL fans have been aware of since week one — there's too much coverage of Tim Tebow on the cable network.
