New Jets general manager John Idzik said Monday that Mark Sanchez will be pushed for the starting quarterback job, vowing to add competition. While they've begun kicking tires on college prospects, Gang Green reportedly is looking in a whole other direction. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the Jets have had "some very exploratory, informal discussions" regarding JaMarcus Russell. Russell, as most know, was the former No. 1 overall pick of the Raiders and generally is referred to as the league's all-time biggest bust. Literally the biggest – at last check, he clocked in at 305 pounds. After getting run out of Oakland, Russell took his millions of dollars and faded into obscurity for the better part of three years. That changed last week, when it was reported that he's aiming to make a comeback by gauging his interest at next month's NFL Combine. It's worth noting that the discussions took place after previous GM Mike Tannenbaum was fired. Also, New York was linked to...

  • These idiots had a good QB but wouldn't play him, this one will wind up the same, perhaps he should take a "double think" on them. Of course he is most likely in it for the money so making money on the side line may be up his alley.
  • The Jets have the stupidest organization in the league. First ruin Tebow, now possibly signing a loser...
  • SIGNING RUSSELL WOULD BE AS STUPID A MOVE AS I CAN IMAGNE--EVEN FOR THE JETS. AND WHY IS SANCHEZ STILL THOUGHT OF AS A JET'S QUATERBACK. AS A SEASON TICKET HOLDER I AM ABOUT TO RIOT. WOLFMANG
  • What a uneducated front office.
  • Tebow may have been unorthodox but he knows how to win.
  • yes he did
  • Please do better than that - the Pats need a few competitive games to tune up for next years playoff run!
  • The Jets' front office is inhabited by loons.
  • NY Jets are a joke. They run the team like a circus. If they had any notion on improving the team perhaps they should look west and call Alex Smith...I hear he wants out and he's not so shabby. Trade Revis for the QB. Revis is only concerned about being the hightest paid back with no playing time.
  • Woody it was thought you were pointing the Jets in the right direction when you hired John Idzik. The feeling of Law & Order being posed on the team was something to look forward to. We are hoping the JaMarcus Russell prank is nothing more than smoke & mirrors. Lets hear some good rumors for a change!
  • A match made in Heaven!
  • JaPorkchop russell is nothing but a 27 year old fermented piece of crap. He's DOWN to 305? Only 65-70 more pounds to at least look like an NFL QB. Any NFL team management that even thinks about bringing this waste of human life in for a workout is out of their minds and should be put in an insane asylum. With the egos coaches have, I'm sure some full of themself coach is thinking "I can change him". Well trust me, you can't because he's nothing but a big fat bum & loser.
  • Another Backfire Bomber!
  • Last year they brought in Tebow, then went out of the way to let Sanchez know that his job was safe in order to protect his fragile ego. Now suddenly competition is going to push Sanchez to be a better quarterback. This revelation that competition is good is coming a year too late.
  • LOL, Fire the GM, this guy is a fool, play your 3rd string QB and draft another
  • New Jets GM, John Idzik starting out with a power play by pulling Raiders cast off, JaMarcus Russell, out of the Raiders garbage pile, to give QB Mark Sanchez competition at the QB slot. I wet my drawers when I read this. If you really intend to give JaMarcus a shot, give hnim a blindfold first.
  • "New Jets general manager John Idzik said Monday that Mark Sanchez will be pushed for the starting quarterback job, vowing to add competition"

Wasn't that the same thing said when they brought in Tebow. To push lazy Sanchez to work harder. They need to dump Sanchez, the lowest rated QB in the NFl last year, and get Alex Smith as the starter. Stop playing silly games.
  • Sorry, Alex Smith won't help much. He needs decent players around him.
  • The Jets must be run by monkeys, actually, that's probably disrespect to a monkey, because I'm sure they are more intelligent than Jets management. I've never seen such an idiotic organization in all my life.
  • Instead of Sanchez running up into the lineman's butt and get flatten by the recoil Russell can run up and flatten the whole line. Oh yeah, so much better. On the serious side, with the few good backups around the league that are ready to be traded, why don't the jets try and take a short at them? Or is Russell just happen to be a bargain basement buy?

  • As a Patriots fan, all I can say is, good idea, go for it. LOL
  • JaMarcus Russell!!!!!love it love it love it go Woody, sounds like another great GM for the Jets........... LMAO
  • What happens when people go to the Jets? They seem to get stupid all of a sudden.
  • Give me a break. This guy Russell is a fat 305 pound meth-head with an IQ on par with Vince Young. Only the Jets or Raiders can be this dumb.

Jim Harbaugh has landed three recruits in 24 hours

Heading into this weekend, Michigan’s 2015 recruiting class wasn’t great. It probably wasn’t even considered good. The Wolverines’ class ranked in the 90s nationally with just six commitments.  It’s starting to look better, though. Jim Harbaugh got his first commitment as Michigan’s coach on Saturday, when defensive end Reuben Jones pledged to the Wolverines. Later...

Van Gundy rips Bulls management about Thibs

After catching fire near the end of December—winning seven straight games—the Chicago Bulls hoped that momentum would carry over into the new year. But that hasn’t been the case, with the team posting a mediocre 7-6 record in January thus far. As a result, head coach Tom Thibodeau has received some criticism from the media—but is it warranted? ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy...
