PLAYERS: Tim Tebow
TEAMS: New York Jets

Via Helmet2Helmet:

On Tuesday, the Jets began their roster purging by cutting ties with several veteran players, including linebackers Bart Scott and Calvin Pace.

They won’t resort to the same method with Tim Tebow…yet.

According to ESPNNewYork.com, the Jets are expected to “shop” the backup quarterback at this week’s Scouting Combine.

The NFL's trading period officially opens on March 12, so the Jets are simply putting out feelers, gauging potential interest around the league.

Gang Green shouldn’t be holding its collective breath, however.

No team is going to part with a draft pick for a player they know is on the outs, especially one with an immense amount of cult-like hoopla. As New York experienced first-hand, acquiring Tebow ultimately brings about more negatives than positives.

While another NFL club probably will kick the tires on Tebow, the Jets can all but forget about recouping their losses from last season’s monumental blunder.

  • Monumental blunder? Maybe their biggest blunder was not playing him. Never saw anything like it- coaches sucked, players on the field sucked, and all they can do is blame the guy who didn't play for being a distraction. Yeah, that must've been it.
  • interesting assesment
  • I agree with that assement, should have at least give him a clear chance because Sanchez was not cutting it
  • Wow the writer is a serious Tebow hater isn't he.

"No team is going to part with a draft pick for a player they know is on the outs."

"Tebow ultimately brings about more negatives than positives."

"Jets can all but forget about recouping their losses from last season’s monumental blunder."

What a jerk the writer is. The Jet's problems were not because of Tebow.

When the Bronco's asked he did the job. Play with the numbers all you want. In the end he got farther than Manning.
  • And will go much farther than Sanchez eventually. Unless Sanchez gets out from under the control of Tubby
  • Maybe it is the Jets who bring about more negatives than positive. Jets should be happy that Tebow is an honorable type of man otherwise if I were Tebow I would sue the **** out of the Jets, possibly for near ruining his career, not letting him do his job, bringing him negative publicity etc...., Sanchez and the Jets including coaching suck and instead of trying to do something about it they blame Tebow not for poor performance(how could they) but just for being Tebow
  • I used to have good feelings about the Jests, but after their terrible treatment of Tim Tebow my feeling is that no decent player should consider being a part of their (dis)organization, and they should have losing seasons for about the next 75 to 100 years. Also that Rex Ryan continues to coach them for that long and the current ownership, if they try to sell the team should get about 10 cents back for every dollar they have put into the team. This is the best I can wish for them.
  • I totally agree that Tim Tebow has become the proverbial scapegoat for the the coaches'incompetence and their lack of intestinal fortitude to truly leave it all on the field and try something different because the Sanchez factor was not working. I am certain that somewhere, in the not so distant future, Tebow will re-emerge and continue to display the heart of the champion that he is. he only needs a real bona-fide chance to do so.

Tim Tebow Cancels Appearance at Controversial Church

The football world may be closing in on Tim Tebow, but the rest  of the planet still seems to love the good-natured guy. However, after he agreed to speak at a Dallas-area church that is known for its controversial views on homosexuality among many things (like claiming Islam encourages pedophiles to do what they do) you had to start to wonder if the skeleton was coming out of the...

Tim Tebow Benches Himself From Speech at Controversial Dallas Church

Tim Tebow still plans to preach his message of faith to the masses, just not at the risk of his reputation. After agreeing to a speaking engagement at the First Baptist Church of Dallas last week, Tebow changed his tune on Thursday. Tebow was scheduled to deliver two sermons to the church audience of more than 11,000, but the controversial views and beliefs of reverend Robert Jeffress...

Tebow backs out of Dallas church visit

It seems that Tim Tebow has spent more time so far this offseason speaking at church events then working on his deep routes. But the Tebow Tour 2013 won't be making one of his scheduled stops. The New York Jets quarterback has backed out of an event at the First Baptist Dallas Church in April, Tebow announced on his Twitter account. The church is the home of pastor Robert Jeffress...

NFL Rumors: When do the New York Jets cut QB Tim Tebow?

The New York Jets started the expected purging of their roster this afternoon, cutting four veterans and waiving another player. The moves made this afternoon now save the Jets a reported $32 million against the salary cap in 2013. The next question for the cash-strapped Jets is, when do they cut quarterback Tim Tebow? Tebow is currently under contract for the 2013 season for $2...

Report: Jets will try and shop Tebow at the combine

According to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com, the Jets will try to trade quarterback Tim Tebow at next week’s scouting combine in Indianapolis. The Jets will try to shop him at this week’s scouting combine. The first day they can trade him is March 12, so they might keep him until then with the hope that they can swing a deal. Chances are, no one will bite, so they’ll end up...

Jets rumors: New York will shop Tim Tebow

The New York Jets have already cut ties with several veteran players this week, and they will next shop backup quarterback Tim Tebow at the scouting combine, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York. The first day the Jets are able to trade Tebow is March 12. Rather than cut him prior to this date, they may keep him until then and see if they can swing a deal to recoup some value...

Jets to Shop Tim Tebow at Scouting Combine

Even with all the drama and hoopla that surrounds Tim Tebow, I would still be interested to see what would happened if he was giving the opportunity to start a full season. In the half season he started with the Broncos, it wasn’t always pretty, but he did lead them to wins and a playoff victory. Was that just a fluke or does he have a weird ability to win ugly? We might never...

Jets Intend To Shop Tim Tebow At The Scouting Combine

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, the Jets will attempt to ”shop” Tim Tebow at this week’s Scouting Combine. Cimini adds that they can’t officially trade Tebow until March 12, so it would make sense to see them aggressively pursue a trade in the next few weeks. Cimini ultimately believes “no one will bite” and they will end up cutting him loose before...

2013 NFL Mock Draft: 3 QBs in the top 10?

This latest pre-combine 2013 NFL  mock draft takes into account where players could be drafted so far in the process. The combine will definitely have a major impact on where players land, and could even knock a few out of the first round. A post-combine mock will be compiled to see where players dropped, and which players ascended, but for now here is the pre-combine mock. A couple...

The Green Bay Packers have stumbled out of the gate a bit in the early part of the season, going 1-2. Celtics owner wonders if Rondo is uncoachable

First things first, I'm the realest I think the title makes it sound a little worse than it really was. That said, the title is completely accurate. On last night's "Sports Final Overtime" on WBZ, Grousbeck was asked about Rajon Rondo as part of an interview which was meant to preview the upcoming season. While Grousbeck said some positive things -- calling Rondo...

Anyone who has watched the Cowboys play during this span know this full well. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones...

Bill Simmons dares ESPN to punish him for ripping Goodell?

ESPN’s Bill Simmons sometimes goes off the rails in very un-ESPN-like fashion. As a result, he’s part of a small group of key faces at the Worldwide Leader who are sometimes penalized by their employer for going too far. It’s debatable whether Simmons went too far with his latest diatribe against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday, but it does appear as though — in...
