Finally, a person has come along and perfectly explained Tebowmania by aptly comparing it to another uncontrollable, yet perplexing craze: Bieber Fever. Veteran NFL linebacker Joe Porter, who is almost as well known for his strong opinions off the field as he is for his strong play on it, did not mince words in the least when the topic of Tebow and his ultimate landing place now that his time in Denver is about over came up during an appearance on NFL Total Access Monday, saying (see video here):
"Anybody who brings him in right now, you would think they're trying to do it for ticket sales. So it's just like, it's good to have a Justin Bieber because you're gonna get a whole of (fans). That's what I compare it to. He's the Justin Bieber of the NFL."
Well put. In other words, while tremendously popular, no one can explain exactly why the phenomenon is so attractive to so many people, how it became an unstoppable force unto itself and how it's a fool's task to simply try to ignore it, let alone figure out a way to get rid of it. The free agent Porter also expressed how he would feel if a team he played for made a successful bid at landing Tebow:
"A little disappointed just (because) you don't really know what angle we're going as his team -- are we trying to win right now, or are we playing to get a draft pick for the next year's quarterback, who's gonna be pretty good? Are they trying to set up for (the acquisition of USC's Matt) Barkley?" he said.
"You gotta think that if I'm playing and you bring Tebow in, you're not gonna think like, 'What are we trying to do this year?' I don't think we can win right now with Tebow."
Strong words from a strong man. And who's going to argue with him, not only because he's an intimidating individual but also because he explained it all so eloquently? He's hit the nail right on the head as far as I'm concerned.

Joey Porter is not the best linebacker, old and pretty much washed up, but because nobody likes him and he is such a loudmouth violent ******* he has no ticket sale value.
