From NESN:

Prepare to have your mind blown.

The New York Jets' quarterback situation just won't die as a storyline, and when that happens, total freak coicidences become borderline news. With that, we give you Mark Sanchez's stat line through five weeks of the NFL season.

The Jets' starter for the time being, Sanchez has been under plenty of scrutiny this season, and for good reason. The former first-round pick has been erratic for much of the season, as completing passes becomes more and more of an arduous task.

Through five games, his completion percentage is 48.4 percent. That's important number in that it doesn't involve a "6" anywhere. That's because just about every other Sanchez statistic does include the No. 6.

For instance, he's thrown six touchdowns. He also has a half-dozen interceptions. How many yards per attempt, do you think then, is Sanchez averaging? It's 6.6, of course. While Sanchez and the Jets haven't hit on many long passes this season, you may not be surprised to find out the his longest completion of the season went for ... 66 yards.

It gets better, though. When you tabulate all of those numbers in some sort of weird way that spits out quarterback rating, Sanchez's QB rating comes out as, wait for it, 66.6.

Six-six-six. For No. 6.

It only gets better when you consider that Sanchez is being backed up by Tim Tebow. The southpaw single-caller may be one of New York's most popular men right now, as he is the only antidote to Sanchez at this point. It's also a little bit zany given Tebow's outspoken and widely publicized religious beliefs.

Oh, that and if you add the two digits of Tebow's No. 15 jersey, one and five, you of course, get six.

Wait, wait, wait. There's even more. The Jets were defeated Monday night on Monday Night Football. Not a big deal, right? Teams play on Monday night every week and all of that.

Well, take it away, Timmy!

What does it all mean? Absolutely nothing, of course. But hey, it's probably the most fun anyone has had with Sanchez's offensive numbers all season.

Sanchez, Tebow and the Jets enter Week 6 (!) with a 2-3 record.

Sanchez, Jets can't run with Foster, Texans

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A week after the Jets' lifeless 35-0 performance against the San Francisco 49ers, New York showed a pulse Monday Night. The pulse, however, was not enough to overcome the Houston Texans -- or their own miscues. Mark Sanchez threw two interceptions, both coming at costly times for the Jets, who found themselves in the thick of a game that everyone had...

NFL Rumors: Tim Tebow To Get Opportunity To Surpass Mark Sanchez As Jets Starting QB On MNF?

The New York Jets will take on the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football, and they will do so with Mark Sanchez as the starting quarterback. How much longer he holds that position atop the Jets’ depth chart remains to be seen. New York signed Sanchez to a ridiculous contract extension this offseason, one in which they may be regretting right now. He has played rather poorly to...

J.J. Watt Destroys Sanchez, Jets On Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football illuminated the dominance of the Houston Texans' J.J. Watt. He not only demonstrated to a national audience that he is worthy of leading the National Football League in sacks with 8.5 of them under his belt, but he can change the course of a game and possibly the career of a New York Jets' quarterback with a single swat of his hand.J.J. Watt rescued...

Jets' many flaws clear in loss to Texans

Mark Sanchez had his moments - good and bad - for the Jets. Tim Tebow, too. But some of the Jets' biggest flaws were on full display in their 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans. They couldn't run the ball, the defense couldn't stop the run and Tebow still isn't running on the field much. Rex Ryan says the Jets need to get their running game going for the offense to...

Ryan says Sanchez will remain Jets starter "this week"

People are going to read into the wording used by New York Jets coach Rex Ryan when he said on Wednesday that Mark Sanchez will remain the Jets starting quarterback "this week." The fact that Ryan did not commit beyond Sunday's game against Indianapolis may or may not mean anything, but it certainly will fuel speculation about whether Tim Tebow could become the starter...

Jets, Texans tied 7-7 after 1 quarter

Heavily criticized Mark Sanchez hit Jeff Cumberland with a perfect 27-yard touchdown pass, lifting the New York Jets into a 7-7 tie with Houston after one quarter Monday night. The Jets, who have won all five meetings with the Texans, were coming off a 34-0 home loss to the 49ers in which their offense, defense and special teams were pitiful. But an interception by Antonio Cromartie...

Jets owner says Sanchez will remain the starter and Tebow isnt going anywhere

A few weeks ago a rumor emerged that New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow might request a trade at the end of the season if he doesn’t become the starting quarterback.During an interview with CNBC on Wednesday morning, Jets owner Woody Johnson was asked if quarterback Tim Tebow will be with the Jets after this season.“Are we going to keep Tebow? Absolutely,” Johnson said, via...

The Jets need to refuel their engines

At this point the Jets have no answers on offense at all. Tebow or Sanchez? Where’s first round pick from a few years ago in Shonne Greene. Santonio Holmes was their best offensive weapon and he’s done for the season. I think Antonio Cromartie was right when he said he was the second best receiver on the team. He beat Johnathan Joseph badly on a stop and go route on Monday...

Monday Night Football: Texans, Jets Heading in Opposite Directions

With what looked like a decent Monday Night Football match up on paper when the 2012 NFL schedule was first released, the Texans at the Jets now looks like it could see the mercy rule invoked. With the Texans on the rise, consistently beating teams by double digits, the flailing Jets, who were embarrassed at home last week by a 34-0 thrashing, look to be heading in the opposite direction...
