PLAYERS: Peyton Manning
TEAMS: Denver Broncos

via Black Sports Online:

If I was a criminal, I would do my robbing any time there was a big sporting event, because I would assume a lot of the cops were closer to the stadium, so that would enhance my chances of a smooth getaway.

Manning owns several Papa John’s restaurants in Denver, but one is a few dollars short this morning.

Police tell us the caper went down around 7:30 PM — right in the middle of Peyton and the Broncos’ big game — at the PJ’s near the University of Denver.

We’re told two masked suspects with guns walked in to the store and demanded employees hand over the money from the register … got the loot, and then made a clean getaway.

No one was injured during the robbery, and it’s unclear at this point how much cash the crooks got.

Police believe the suspects are guys in their 20s — and say their description matches several other robberies in the area last night.

Looks like the thieves were using my train of thought.

Recap: Manning leads Broncos to 27-17 win over KC

The Chiefs, who came into the game with a league-leading 36 sacks, barely breathed on Manning, who finished 24 for 40. The Broncos tied Kansas City at...

Manning, Broncos top Chiefs 27-17

The Kansas City Chiefs never got near him. Manning was well-protected Sunday night, throwing for 323 yards and a touchdown to help the Denver Broncos top the Chiefs 27-17. One of Peyton Manning’s Papa John’s restaurants reportedly robbed during Broncos-Chiefs game

One of the most popular strategies burglars use when robbing houses is to familiarize themselves with the homeowner’s schedule so they know when the house will be vacant. Does that same concept apply for the Papa John’s restaurants that Peyton Manning owns when the Denver Broncos are playing? As you know, the Broncos picked up […]

Chiefs can learn from loss to Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs came out of it with their record finally sullied yet their pride still fully intact. No reason to be embarrassed by losing to Peyton Manning and the Broncos in Denver on Sunday night, even if they were the last unbeaten team in the NFL. Indeed, the argument could be made that the Chiefs played well enough in a 27-17 loss that they have legitimate hope when...

Puh-leeze: Chiefs' defense could have used a teeny tiny bit of help from offense

Five things we learned from the Chiefs' 27-17 loss to Denver on Sunday night. DEFENSE HELD UP: OK, the Chiefs' defense probably is going to take a lot of the blame, unfairly, for this loss. I will contend, however, that the defense did its part in keeping the Chiefs close enough to win this game. Yes, the defense allowed 427 yards of total offense to Peyton Manning and the...

Facing the NFL’s top-ranked defense, Peyton Manning threw for 323 yards and a touchdown Sunday night in a Denver Broncos’ 27-17 victory over the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Secondary Injuries Piling Up, Just in Time for Peyton Manning

Streeter Lecka/ Getty ImagesThere's no denying the fact that injuries have been a major part of the Patriots 2013 season. The first half of the season was dominated by concerns about Tom Brady and the offense, which struggled mightily without it's top receiver (Danny Amendola), running back (Shane Vereen) and tight end (Rob Gronkowski). As those players slowly began to return...

Broncos hand Chiefs first loss

Peyton Manning walked away a winner in the biggest game of the year so far and, as a bonus, the Broncos might not even have to send his uniform off to the cleaners. Manning threw for 323 yards and a touchdown Sunday night and was barely touched by Kansas City's sack-happy defense in Denver's 27-17 victory over the NFL's last undefeated team. It means the `72 Dolphins...

Chiefs-Broncos Live Blog, First Half

Beyond a divisional rivalry, beyond a game with massive playoff ramifications, we have something of a philosophical standoff in NFL strategy. A team that is almost entirely offense against one that thrives on defensive play and playing it safe when they have the ball. The way the sport changes from year to year, there’s seemingly little hope for a team that bases itself on defensive...
