TEAMS: New York Jets

From Helmet 2 Helmet:

The NFL’s most blusterous coach, Rex Ryan, has been conspicuously silent since the Jets’ brutal season ended. Wholesale changes to the organization are underway, with GM Mike Tannenbaum already receiving a pink slip and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano waiting for his walking papers.

Ryan, whose job is reportedly safe, has yet to hold a season-ending press conference, a league-mandated requirement for teams that failed to make the postseason. The media, growing restless, has conducted a ‘Where’s Waldo?’ search for Gang Green’s head man.

They need not look further.

Quoting a tipster who wrote into the site, Deadspin passes along word — and visual proof -- of Rex on vacation with his wife in the Bahamas.

Says the tipster:

My parents (we’re all jets fans) were apparently on the same flight as him out of Newark Airport this a.m. and saw him and his wife in the baggage area waiting for bags in the Bahamas. People went up and said hi to them and he confirmed he was Rex. He was wearing a Jets/Titans throwback coat.

My parents are staying at The Cove Atlantis. After they got their bags, there was a car waiting outside from that hotel. My dad asked if they were there to pick him up and driver responded “Are you Mr. Ryan?”

Considering the Daily News reported Wednesday that Ryan flew out of New Jersey on a “trip of a personal nature,” this would be appear to be legit. Shortly after the News published that story, the Jets announced that Ryan and owner Woody Johnson will conduct the elusive press conference next Tuesday, Jan. 8. Coincidence?

Ryan isn’t expected to be back in town until then, but it’s good to know we can call off the APB — for now.

Sporting goods store mocks Tebow?

Tim Tebow's NFL season is over, and he's still taking jabs. The Tebow mannequin, No. 15, is seen sitting on the bench next to Mark Sanchez (No. 6) in a display of New York Jets and New York...

Tim Tebow Can Succeed in NFL if Given Right Setup at Quarterback, Urban Meyer Says

Two things are readily apparent after Tim Tebow‘s three years in the NFL. First, he is not ever going to be a good traditional quarterback. Second, he does not want to — or cannot — be used primarily as an option player, such as in wildcat sets. But what is still undetermined is whether Tebow can be a good, run-oriented quarterback if given the right offense. Former Florida...

Dick’s Sporting Goods in New York City takes a shot at Tim Tebow

On the football field and at Dick’s Sporting Goods in New York City, Tim Tebow rides the bench. The photo (above) of Tebow’s...

With changes looming in New York, Rex Ryan quietly leaves town

Usually no matter how much we wanted him to, Rex Ryan just would not stop running off at the mouth. But as the winds of change began to blow through the Jets organization, Ryan has been uncharacteristically quiet. Tim Tebow wants out. Mark Sanchez may be on his way out. And GM Mike Tannenbaum was given his walking papers on Monday. In response, Ryan ducked a radio interview and the...

Video: Tim Tebow and Tom Rinaldi share a moment

Florida could have actually used Tim Tebow last night in the Sugar Bowl as they got smashed by Louisville.  It's hard to remember, but Tebow was once one of the great college football players in history with a Heisman Trophy and two national championships before he became a human debate pinata.  He was there in New Orleans to watch the Gators defeat in person, and wouldn'...
