Rob Gronkowski's injured ankle was one of the biggest storylines leading up to Super Bowl XLVI. Now, the Patriots tight end has suddenly found himself at the center of attention once again.

A video surfaced of Gronkowski dancing -- seemingly under the influence -- at the Patriots' after party on Sunday night, which has caused an uproar in some circles. Former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison is among those who think that Gronk was out of line with his postgame antics, saying Gronkowski "disrepected himself."

"I guarantee you this, if Willie McGinestTedy Bruschi, Larry IzzoRichard Seymour or myself had been at that party, [Gronkowski] probably would have got his head rung," Harrison said during a radio appearance on ESPN Chicago Radio 1000. "There's no reason for that to happen."

Harrison admitted he hasn't seen photos or the video of Gronkowski dancing at the party, but he's apparently finding it hard to comprehend the lack of devastation shown by the young Pro Bowler just hours after suffering a crushing defeat.

"When we lost the Super Bowl, any of my Super Bowl losses, I was so devastated the last thing I ever wanted to do was party, let alone dance or take off your shirt," he added. "It's just immaturity. It's not right. He made a mistake and I'm sure he feels absolutely stupid about it at this point. There's a time and place for everything."

Gronkowski is being seen by some as a party animal because of his actions this season, highlighted by the photos that surfaced on Twitter of him hanging out with porn star BiBi Jones. He still managed to put together the best season a tight end has ever had, though, and battled through an ankle injury suffered in the AFC Championship to get back on the field for the Super Bowl.

But that's apparently not enough for Harrison, as the outspoken analyst insists the off-the-field stuff has to stop.

"The leadership has to step up and someone has to pull [Gronkowski] to the side and say, 'Look young man, this is inappropriate, this is not the time nor the place. You need to grow up,'" Harrison said. "And that's what it comes down to. I like this kid. I think he's a good kid, works hard, is unselfish. But he made a mistake.

"There's a certain way of representing yourself and your family and that's not the right way."

  • Harrison needs to mind his own business. He's a has been and needs to kiss Gronk's feet and apoligize for talking that garbage. He's probably jealous he wasn't invited to the party.
  • I totally agree with you whitebird! SHUT THE HELL UP HARRISON. He has the right to do what he wants. Why should he hang his head and be depressed, what the heck. Someone has to win and someone has to lose. Harrison you are such a LOSER! Cheez mind your own business.
  • Harrison is right-- Gronk had nothing to celebrate and disrespected his team and entire organization.
  • you cant celebrate GOING to the superbowl? wow you people are ignorant
  • My God He is a kid .Let him have fun that was only a game . Boo Hoo
  • I thing about that topless dance of his was that he seems to be glad they lost lol... More power to Him.. At least He didnt Cry to his Wife or Girlfriend .... Like some other person all knows ...
  • I am so tired of these macho guys trying to tell others how to live. Gronk set all kinds of records this year, played his behind off and should be able to live his life the way he sees fit. I remember all the dirty hits Harrison took during his career and no one "pulled him aside." Mind your own business Rodney.
  • Rodney, we all knew you blew the coverage to ruin a perfect season--it broke my heart and cost me $2K--get over it we still love you, let Gronk let loose after the season of a lifetime, heck-- in history!! Great season Gronk!!
  • One of the biggest problems with the patriots has been a lack of leadership in the locker room. He may not be the leader but somebody should have said something to him. Shaq said it best when he said the best of the best players go home. If you want to be that elite guy you have all off season to party. Basicly he's celebrating a loss.
  • Gronk can't change the outcome of the superbowl. He has every right to go to a party afterwards and have a good time. There is something to be said for making it to the big game, he's probably grateful for the experience! Leave Gronk alone!
  • F Harrison, sitting in your hotel room with the lights off and sobbing into your pillow is not the only way to deal with a devastating loss, some people go out and tie one on and dance their blues away or others get 1/2 ounce of sticky icky 2 grams of snow and $2500 worth of hookers ...... but i'm 2 years 3 months and 17 days clean now.
  • congtatulations baje009.. best of luck to you... wish you another 100 years clean..
  • WGAS what he does after the SB? Harrison needs to mind his own business and STFU! I'd much rather see someone go out and try to get their mind off of a tough loss rather than sit in solitude throwing a pity party for himself.
  • By getting bitter over a loss is how people over come and come back better next year. You ALWAYS here people in sports getting bitter from a loss coming back to win and bring redemption. Its o.k they lost it was a good season. He had the best season of any tight end it just shows alot about his character that he can be happy losing. In a game where he played aweful because he was injured. He probaly should have been taken care of his injury.
  • Looks like he's got all the moves on the dance floor down but looked pathetic on the football field when his team needed all of that saved dance energy/enthusiasm. with a name like "Gronk" what do we really expect though. a typical jarhead rookie mistake... oh yeah, he's not a rookie though! maybe he had a post SB pain killer "shot" that numbed his brain vs. high ankle! kick his big country ass Rodney, take geselle with you, she'll at least bitch him out!
  • from the looks of it giselle and rodney need to shut up and not make a big deal out of everything. so what he took off his shirt. at least he didnt take off the pants. some people need to get a life and let others enjoy theirs.
and for another he does have an ankle injury in case you have forgotten so he didnt really get to play. i say more power to him for not sulking in a hotel room.
  • I Love ya Rodney but REALLY...If he is young and immature by doing this then what were you when you had to sit out a spell for a certain substance issue????????????
  • if he could dance so well why couldn't he play as well? seams the ankle sprain got better real quick after the game or maybe they have better pain killers at the party than the nfl.
  • Hey Rod, and the rest of you armchair QB's, why don't you get all the facts straight before you open your pie hole !! If it was proper to mourn after a Super Bowl loss, wouldn't they hold the after party in a funeral home ? They provided food, drinks and even a band !! When was the last time you saw all of that at a funeral ? Stop ripping Gronk and others for having a good time after a terrific season. That kid sweats Patriot dedication and played with a bad hinge. Your comments just go to prove the point that any A-hole can criticize someone, and they usually do !
  • I agree with Rodney. Name one other Patriot you've ever seen acting like this, particularly after a SB loss.OOOPs Matt Light. Anyway, the fact that he was suppose to be injured and wasn't played much made everyone look ridiculous...the commentators even made the comment that if his ankle had been itself, he might have hade a better shot at that Hail Mary pass, he was a little tentative... not so tentative on that dance floor. No one wants him to sulk. And that has been has two more SB rings than Gronkowsi has.... who should kiss who's feet???? lol The problem with kids today is they wouldn't know respect for themselves or others if it rose up and bit them in the butt.
  • Harrison, were you in the superbowl....Nah!!!!! You didn't make. shut your lame but pie hole and go cheap shot someones grandmother!
  • I agree with Harrison's opinion. Besides, Harrison spent his career cheap-shotting people who were already down or on the pile, so he knows a thing or two about how to be disrespectful to others.
  • It's a game. Only a game. There are more pressing issues to cry over. He had a great season. They lost a game. Maybe Rodney would want to jump off a building but I would want to go to a party with my teamates. Maybe Rodney was pissed that he wasn't invited. To bad, so sad.
  • isn't gronk from pittsburg?
    that would explain a lot
  • think he's from the buffalo area.
  • Gronk just had a incredible season, maybe he's a positive person and is trying to focus on the good things...
life is freaking too short to dwell on the negative! I'm looking forward to another winning season. GO 9er's!!
  • Rodney, No all players take life so serious and is their right. You need to understand that people are different,or maybe more practical. Why you want to be miserable for something that cannot be changed. Gronk is young and a party animal and he paid his dues to New England. What is the big deal? The Patriots lost and it was not Gronk foul anyway. The Master estrategy lost the game not allowing the G to score a TD and put the ball on Brady with more time on the clock, plus the time out. Sorry, Rondney, sometimes even the Master mess up.
  • Harrison is right. Second place in the NFL is the #1 loser! If I were the team owner and paid these guys $$ millions TO WIN then I would expect they take a lose a little more seriously.
  • This is such a non-story. If they were partying like this the night BEFORE the Super Bowl, then you would have a story. But what did you think they were going to do - go home and cry? It was a great season for them and they know they got way further in the season than they should have with the horrible defense they had.
  • Maturity has nothing to do with it. Even a child who is truly passionate about a sport will be down after a loss.
  • This was a party that was thrown by the Patriots and was planned whether the Pats won or lose. They had a great season and needed a night to let lose. Gronk and the rest of the Pats have the whole off season to reflect on the game and how they could have been champs and then use this to motivate themselves to dominate again next season. As long as Gronk continues to perform on the field it is really no one's business what he does off the field. Plus Harrison is just jealous of how Gronk is built and that he got to Gronk BiBi Jones!!! Hey Harrison if you were not such an ass as a player maybe you would have been invited!!
  • What the hell was he supposed to do, go crawl in a hole somewhere? The game was over and he's moving on instead of moping over it.
  • Who is this Harrison fella you refer to? Has been!
  • Hey Harrison, maybe you should call Jesse Jackson and the ACLU!!! ... Get Gronkowski fined or something? DB...
  • rodney harrison???? Who He????
  • Just like people handle and deal with the death of a loved one differently, so do athletes deal with a significant loss. For some there is a need for denial, or escape the harsh reality of what just happened. It doesn't mean that they don't take what happened seriously. Then there's getting stupid drunk, if he didn't drive he's free to make an ass out of himself.

Also when Harrison drives he believes he's the only one going the right speed, which is clearly wrong because I'm the one going the right speed.
  • You've got to consider the context Rod. If I'm not mistaken, it looks like Gronk is on stage with LMFAO. That's not a pass, but at least the story makes a little more sense now.

It probably wasn't the best decision, but it's a lesson Gronk will learn on his own. Brady won't be around forever, and time will teach Gronk his lesson. Only after time will Gronk realize how hard it is to get there, how special an opportunity and honor it is to be a part of, and how much this lose will really hurt him when it's all said and done. That's his youth allowing him to take the opportunity for granted.

Also, instead of history being stamped by the Pats undefeated season and then an all time season by a championship TE for an encore, it's being stamped by how Eli and Coughlin are both shoe ins for the Hall of Fame. You could have etched your name in history Gronk by finishing the season with the ring. Instead of being epic, how could this season be anything but a disappointment to come so close and fall short of your goal. That's even more painful than earlier departures.

There's truth in Rod's criticism, but let's not air "the family's dirty laundry". You're both Pats, keep it behind closed doors Rod. One could say you're guilty of something worse than Gronk's krunk episode, by pulling a Gisselle and flapping off and talking to the media. There's other ways to administer lateral accountability in the family.
