Via Black Sports Online:

Wes Welker has something else other than football to brag about. The Broncos receiver had hair transplant surgery this offseason and when asked had no problem discussing the procedure.

Via For The Win:

“[The growth] doesn’t happen right away,” Welker told For The Win. “You start to see a little bit after two or three months and in six months you get to see a little more. Once you get up to a year you’re really starting to see the difference. It takes a full 18 months till it’s fully grown in.”

“It’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” he said. “If you want to have hair, have hair. I don’t like to sit there and say ‘What are you talking about? I never got my hair done.” People can notice it without wondering.”

The average hair transplant surgery can cost between $4,000 and $15,000 and Welker has admitted to receiving calls from other players asking for his doctor’s information.

I commend Welker for being so open. He’s right, after about a year when he’s out on the field looking like Troy Polamalu we would’ve been giving him the side eye.

4 Comments:
  • more power to you Wes. Bald is NOT beautiful.
  • And this is news?
  • For WW, the transplant was probably the least expensive of his many surgeries and success is obvious. If he's happy, this Patriots fan is happy!
