The Jets are doing some talking to the New England Patriots, and it’s not coming from Rex Ryan. Even amid the -14 point spread the Jets are facing, the team and players feel good about their chances.  Muhammad Wilkerson even went out on a limb. While speaking to Bob Glauber of Newsday, Wilkerson all but guaranteed “the Jets would beat the Patriots,” and stay undefeated on the season. “If our game plan is as good as it was , I don’t see why we won’t be 2-0,” the third-year defensive end told Newsday in advance of Thursday’s game in Foxborough. “I’m confident in our coaching staff to have a great game plan and us being 2-0.” After word of Wilkerson guaranteeing victory spread, he chose to further elaborate on his statement regarding victory. “I’m not saying I’m guaranteeing it, but I’m saying if we do our jobs and follow our game plan, I don’t see why we wouldn’t be 2-0,” Wilkerson said. “We had a good game plan in the first game and we won, so why wouldn’t I feel that way for this game? I’m here with these guys every day and I see all the hard work that myself and everybody else on this team is putting in. We can be a dominant defense.”

Muhammad Wilkerson Isn’t ‘Guaranteeing’ Win After All, But Still Confident Jets Can Beat Patriots

Muhammad Wilkerson sent a message to the Patriots on Monday, claiming that the Jets were going to win in Foxboro. One day later, though, the Jets’ defensive lineman is adjusting his statement. The so-called guarantee came during a radio interview with WFAN in New York. During the interview, Wilkerson clearly says “We’re going [to go] up to Foxboro and get this win,” which...

LT says Rex Ryan told Jets he would punch Belichick in the face

Jets coach Rex Ryan and the Patriots have had a heated rivalry that's only gotten hotter with Rex Ryan at the helm in New York. We know that there's a bit of dislike between the players. Apparently Rex Ryan played a bit off that with a joke to his team during former running back turned NFL Network analyst Ladanian Tomlinson's tenure. LT #FTW RT @BrianCoz: Tomlinson...

Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan celebrated Sunday’s win by buying a round at New Orleans bar

Rob Ryan coaching in New Orleans is perfect on many levels: the hair, the “I don’t give a F” attitude. But the most perfect thing about Ryan coaching in New Orleans is the fact that Ryan is just a regular dude that just so happens to coach football. For example, while other Saints players and coaches celebrated Sunday’s win over the Falcons either privately or in downtown...

Rex Ryan once told Jets he was going to punch Bill Belichick in the face

When Rex Ryan was first hired by the New York Jets, he started his tenure out with a bang by saying he did not come to the AFC East to kiss Bill Belichick’s rings. Since then, Ryan has been nothing but complimentary toward Belichick, often referring to him as one of the greatest coaches of […]

Rex Ryan Disputes Negative Perceptions About Jets, Uses Preseason Record as Evidence

Sometimes reality isn’t quite what it seems, and sometimes you’re the Jets. The New York Jets were viewed as something of a circus last season and that perception seemed to follow them into 2013. Rex Ryan as quick to dispute that notion on Tuesday. After a Week 1 win against the Buccaneers, Ryan and the Jets have a short week ahead of their Thursday night showdown with the Patriots...

Initial Reaction – 1-0: New York Jets Pull Out Stunning Win

Whoa. Admit it, you were cursing Rex Ryan and his overrated, un-clutch defense after Tampa Bay took a 17-15 lead with 34 seconds left. A terrific all around effort from his unit and an encouraging debut from Geno Smith was about to go to waste because of one ill-timed blitz and one missed tackle. The media would pile on and revel in the Jets 0-1 start. Yet, today wasn’t a day for...

Rex Ryan on Geno Smith: He stepped up

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan credited Geno Smith's mobility in leading Gang Green to a victory at MetLife Stadium over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Game Balls: Jets vs. Bucs “Holy S@#!t”

This is marks the first regular season edition of “Game Balls” that almost never was as the New York Jets snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and victory from the jaws of defeat in the span of about two minutes. I never thought that I would see a team “out-Jets” the Jets but a little dose of Greg Schiano was apparently what the doctor ordered and without further ado...

LaDainian Tomlinson: Rex Ryan Once Threatened To Punch Bill Belichick

When you are a retired running back who just happens to be one of the games all time greats at your position, it allows you some leeway and wiggle room when you start to discuss personal stories. Take the time Tomlinson says that Rex Ryan was going to punch Patriots head coach Bill Belichick in the face. On Tuesday’s “NFL Access,” Tomlinson recalled a pep talk that Ryan gave...

New York Jets Philosophical Differences: Coverage to Pressure

Football pundits constantly harp on the faddish new formations and mind blowing innovations that NFL coaches and coordinators concoct year in and year out. Even a casual observer of the NFL can witness dramatic shifts in scheme and play on a league wide scale. In 1985 Buddy Ryan’s 46 defense stopped runners in their tracks. In 2001 everyone was captivated by the Tampa 2 defense...

Jets will start QB Geno Smith on Thursday

Source: Al Bello/Getty Images North America Rex Ryan says that Geno Smith will start the New York Jets game on Thursday against the New England Patriots. Smith, 22, had a solid debut in Week 1 against Tampa Bay completing 24-of-38 passes for 256 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
