Safety Haruki Nakamura says Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers have all of the ingredients to be a perennial playoff team - they just need a taste of it. Nakamura, who joined the Panthers from the Baltimore Ravens this offseason as a free agent, says ''once this team gets in there and Cam (Newton) gets a taste of being in the playoffs, he's going to be hooked.'' Nakamura should know. He helped the Ravens reach the AFC Championship game as a rookie in 2008. The Ravens have won a playoff game all three seasons since then with Nakamura serving as a special teams player and backup to future Hall of Famer Ed Reed. Now he's eager to challenge for a starting role in Carolina and become a team leader.

Kicking competition in full swing

The Carolina Panthers will enter the preseason with their kicker and punter positions both up in the air. That's an oddity around here. For the better part of 18 years the Panthers have enjoyed incredible stability with kicker John Kasay and punters Jason Baker and Todd Sauerbrun.

Nepotism: Is it all bad? Dad?

The Panthers have training camp in full swing, and we’re sort of covering it over at PanthersPlanet.com, but training camp doesn’t lead to many stories, other than that whole Jeff Otah deal.  Well the Bobcats have training camp coming up too, which will be less hurried and lockouty this year.  The only interesting thing so [...]

Cam Newton's Kryptonite in 2011: Why It Won’t Be an Issue in 2012

In fact, Newton passed for 4,000-plus yards last season and the Panthers won just six games. The Panthers lost all three games in which Newton passed for more than 300 yards. Yes, you can point the ?nger at a...
