The last two games against San Francisco and Buffalo have produced a lot of reunions on both sidelines for players facing former teams. This week against Jacksonville it’s safety Reggie Nelson’s turn.
Nelson was the Jaguars’ first-round draft choice in 2007 but the Bengals acquired him at the start of last season in a trade for reserve cornerback David Jones. Nelson played a lot in the nickel packages last season until a rash of injuries moved him into the starting lineup.
Jones is was waived by Jacksonville at the end of this preseason.
Nelson is second on the team with 29 tackles (coaches’ game tape review credit him with 37) behind middle linebacker Rey Maualuga’s 32. Whichever way they are totaled, the tackle numbers translate into Nelson being active in his role.
