Looks like the Bengals won’t be signing Adalius Thomas for now, announcing today that Safety Tom Nelson, now off the PUP list, has been activated to the 53-man roster.
The move fills the spot opened with the four-game suspension of DE Antwan Odom for testing positive for a banned substance.
I’m not sure I like this move. They had three weeks to decide what to do with Nelson, and pass-rushing is the most glaring weakness on the defense. I’m sure Nelson will be able to help out on special teams, but its doubtful he’ll see the field in the deep Bengal secondary, and he certainly won’t help pressure the quarterback the way Thomas could.
