The Cleveland Browns introduced Vice President of Player Personnel Mike Lombardi on Friday. While many are praising the hire of Lombardi by the Browns it will bring questions about the future of quarterback Brandon Weeden. Weeden finished his rookie season with 14 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Lombardi has been critical of Weeden in the past and considered their drafting of him with the 22nd overall pick last season a “disaster.” Backup quarterback Colt McCoy was told by team president Jon Banner after the season that he was still in the teams plans for 2013. “I think it’s gonna take some time to study him, I gotta go back through and watch practice tapes,” Lombardi said. “… It’s gonna take me some time to really formulate my opinions on him.” Exactly what Lombardi would need to view from Weeden in unknown. There does not figure to be many options in free agency and the upcoming draft class is weak at quarterback. “I think it’s gonna take some time to study him, I gotta go back through and watch practice tapes,” Lombardi said. “… It’s gonna take me some time to really formulate my opinions on him.”

Do You Remember The Last Time Michael Lombardi Evaluated A Browns Q.B.? Now It’s Weeden’s Turn

The worst possible thing just happened to Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden. Jimmy Haslam III and Joe Banner named Michael Lombardi the teams new General Manager. First on Lombardi’s plate is the evaluation of Weeden. The last Cleveland quarterback that Lombardi evaluated was Bernie Kosar. DO you remember what the results of that evaluation were? Lombardi and Bill Belichick came...

Browns Set To Interview Raheem Morris Today, He is The Redskins Secondary Coach. Just What Cleveland Needs Or Not

Washington Redskins secondary coach. Cleveland can use a guy who can school their secondary on the defensive side of the ball. Other than Joe Haden and T.J. Ward the Cleveland secondary sucked during the 2012 season. Maybe Morris will be able to help the Browns solidify the secondary which is clearly a weak point for the Browns. Morris has head coaching experience. He was the head...

Hey Mike Holmgren You May Be Listening,But No Teams Want To Hire You. Why Do You Think That Is?

Mike Holmgren the guy the Cleveland Browns new ownership couldn’t get rid of fast enough, is still unemployed. Gee  Mike, what do you suppose that is all about? Holmgren came to Cleveland and did very little to turn the Browns into a winning franchise. Even after he milked the former Browns owner Randy Learner out of close to 40 million dollars the Browns still finished the 2012...

Thoughts Around The League On Mike Lombardi

Following the unpopular hire of Michael Lombardi as VP of player personnel by the Browns yesterday morning, several league coaches, TV announcers, and former players have positive things to say about the Browns’ hire and Lombardi’s football knowledge. Hiring of Lombardi raises eyebrows

BEREA, Ohio - The latest re-shaping of the perennially-losing and perpetually-changing Cleveland Browns, a process that officially started with new owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner taking over last October, is now complete at the highest levels. Last week's hiring of Rob Chudzinski as head coach made sense, even as it didn't make much of a national splash. The newest...

Horton: Race not an issue in hirings

Ray Horton doesn't believe his skin color played any role in him not being hired as an NFL head coach. It just wasn't his time. Introduced as Cleveland's new defensive coordinator on Tuesday, Horton said while he's ''disappointed'' that he didn't get a head coaching job after interviewing with several teams, he's grateful to have gone through...

I honestly can’t remember much of what TD and I discussed, but we did it for an hour. We must have talked about something. I think it was related to the Browns. I decided to skim through it so I could give you a good summary, so here’s what we talked about… Watching big games… alone or with a big party? Penultimate vs. Ultimate (hint: penultimate is the second to last...
