After testing the waters last month on the open market, center Dan Koppen has agreed to a two-year contract to remain with the New England Patriots.  NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports the deal is worth approximately $6 million, per Michael David Smith of Photo Credit: Keith Nordstrom/ Koppen was selected in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Patriots. The 6-2, 296-pound center became an immediate starter and missed just nine starts combined coming into 2011.  Last season, however, Koppen suffered a serious season-ending ankle injury in the season opener, which forced Dan Connolly to take over as the starter. Conversation commenced that the club would part ways with Koppen, a former Boston College standout and 2007 Pro Bowler, and make Connolly the starting center moving forward. Analyst Law Murray didn’t buy into this, nonetheless, suggesting that both players were hitting the open market and Koppen had the best chance to...

The Patriots tight end admitted that he was in awe of Tom Brady while looking across at the QB while in the huddle during his rookie season.

Kevin Faulk wants to come back to Patriots Let me start by...

Kevin Faulk wants to come back to Patriots Let me start by saying the above photo is a fan-made photoshop mock up of a red Pats alternate. I’ve always thought it looked pretty cool. Mary Paoletti of CSNNE reports today that Kevin Faulk is training with a return to the Patriots in mind. Doesn’t mean the Patriots want him back, but he’s now two full years removed from his ACL...

New England Patriots WR Brandon Lloyd is a rapper?

Earlier this week, we received an idea from a reader through the suggestion box on our mobile app. It read “did [you] know that [New England Patriots wide receiver] Brandon Lloyd does rap songs? Being both a sports writer and someone that was a music editor/music writer for over 14 years, the initial reaction was a simple eye roll. Rappers that ball are historically very bad...

Wes Welker may end up signing his franchise tender

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker made an appearance on NFL Total Access on the NFL Network (via the Boston Herald) and was asked if he’s unhappy that the franchise tag was placed on him. “It’s a lot of money (laughing) How can you ever be upset about that? Rob Gronkowski wants Tim Tebow's virginity?

((youtube))We debated the merits of posting this incredibly stupid, yet telling video from New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski's appearance at the University of Rhode Island. The comment came when "Gronk" was asked to play a game of "Murder, make love or Kill". ((***Note***--we had no idea that (a) such a game existed and (b) that it would be asked during...

Bill Belichick could have told Sean Payton – Roger Goodell is no joke

All he had to do was ask, just inquire and maybe he wouldn’t be in this mess. Sean Payton is a good friend of Bill Belichick. In the 2010 preseason, they had their teams practice for a week together and share a lot of coaching notes. What didn’t get shared were Belichick's “Goodell notes,” and that was a big mistake. In 2007, Bill Belichick was caught on what is...
