The New England Patriots reportedly signed free agent defensive linemen Gerard Warren Tuesday afternoon—a transaction that many figured Bill Belichick and New England would eventually make. New England and Warren parted ways back on September 7th, as a part of roster cuts in order to make room for the now-free agent tight end Dan Gronkowski. Warren played his first season as a Patriot last year as he appeared in all 16 games, making 28 tackles, while recording a respectable four sacks. The recent transaction may indicate that New England does not have faith in Albert Haynesworth, and that his nagging back injury may bit more serious than the team initially thought. In order to make room for Warren, the team released defensive linemen Landon Cohen Tuesday. There has been no further details on Warrens’ contract amount and length or whether or not the 33-year-old will suit up for New England’s Week 4 battle with the Oakland Raiders.
