old and new (image via NESN.com)
Ever since the Aaron Hernandez news broke, the New England Patriots have done everything they can to disassociate themselves from the alleged killer. Upon learning of his arrest, they immediately released him from the team. Then, they followed that up by offering fans the opportunity to exchange their Aaron Hernandez jerseys for free. By any means necessary, it seems the organization wants to cleanse itself of Hernandez.
What could be next? An entirely new logo, that’s what. According to NESN.com,
The new logo features the “Patriots” names spelled out in big block blue letters with the Flying Elvis emblem stuck smack-dab in the middle. It’s a big change from the plain white cursive script with Elvis hanging out over the top of the “P.”
These types of image overhauls don’t happen overnight, so I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. Plus, the new logo will only be used in the endzone. Team merchandising will not be updated with the new design. But I must say, they have impeccable timing!
What do you think about the new bigger and bolder logo?
