Bill Belichick will always keep you guessing.
With a stockpile of wide receivers already on his roster sheet, Belichick and the New England Patriots held a workout for free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress today.
The addition of Burress would be a head-scratcher given the depth of their ranks at the position, but the presence of the six-foot-five receiver in the red zone would be an embarrassment of riches on an already-stacked Patriot offense.
The veteran played for the rival New York Jets last season, his first after a stint in prison for an infamous incident involving a handgun in a nightclub where he accidently shot himself.
Burress also infamously caught the game-winning touchdown to seal the victory in Super Bowl XLII over the heavily-favored Patriots to deny them a perfect season.
The move does make sense when you consider that Britt Davis recently injured himself in the first preseason game and the rest of the receivers have failed to step up as a clear-cut nu...

Plaxico Burress Could Be Fit for Miami Dolphins that Chad Johnson Wasn’t
When Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin addressed the media regarding Chad Johnson's release on Monday, he was sure to point out that it wasn't just the receiver's weekend arrest that forced the team to sever ties. But while the troublesome Johnson may not have been "a good fit," as Philbin put it on Monday, there may be another receiver on the free-agent...

Plaxico Burress to work out for Patriots
Plaxico Burress may not leave the AFC East after all.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Burress is en route to New England for a workout with the Patriots.
The free agent receiver has generated little buzz this offseason, largely due to his contractual demands, which he’s since lowered. He’s now willing to play for the league minimum, and that’s all he could...
Corey Dillon Isn't the Only Thing Bill Belichick Should Want Back From 2004 Patriots
The Patriots haven't had much of a running game in recent years. Bill Belichick doesn't seem to mind. The way he's talking, in fact, he's just fine without wide receivers, defense, kick returners -- whatever. As long as the wins are rolling in, he says (and they are), he doesn't mind giving up one part of the game if it means racking up points elsewhere. "...

Plaxico Burress: A Patriot?
He hauled in the touchdown reception, which would go on to seal the Patriots first and only defeat of the 2007 season, served two years in prison for violating the New York state gun law and now maybe, just maybe will be dancing in the endzone in Foxborough, in a Patriot uniform. It seems strange [...]

Bill Belichick Gives Logan Mankin High Praise as Guard Returns to Field from Torn ACL (Video)
We know now that Patriots guard Logan Mankins was playing on a torn ACL throughout last year's playoffs. However, that wasn't revealed until a postseason MRI, and Mankins returned to the football field for the first time since learning of that injury on Sunday, not able to suit up in full pads but participating in drills nonetheless. Bill Belichick gave Mankins some extremely...
Vote: Should the Patriots Sign Plaxico Burress?
The Patriots are sure entertaining a lot of options at wide receiver. Aside from the sure-thing options such as Wes Welker, Deion Branch and Brandon Lloyd, the Pats have also have brought in Donte Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney to camp to try out for the team, as well. So, while it seems that New England already has enough options on the end of Tom Brady passes to put together a unit...
