Welcome to the new New York Jets, where ok is good enough. Where accuracy is not that important. In the words of recently released linebacker Bart Scott, "Can't wait" for next season. The Jets' new offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg touched on a few things in an interview on the Jets official website, and dropped this notable tidbit, brought to our attention by the folks at Pro Football Talk. He was asked if there’s a certain completion percentage benchmark that he’ll need his quarterback to reach, and answered, “No, absolutely not.” “Some of the great ones have really not thrown for such great accuracy,” Mornhinweg said. “Steve Young was astronomical accuracy-wise. Brett Favre wasn’t. Brett Favre, I believe won an MVP two different times out of the three times that he won it, throwing 58, 59, 60 percent, somewhere in there. So they all come in different shapes and sizes.” So according to Mornhinweg, there's hope for Mark Sanchez to become a Steve Young or a Brett Favre, if of course, Sanchez is the starter next season. Sanchez completed just 54.3 percent of his passes in 2012, ranking 30th of 32 qualifying quarterbacks, and the Jets are "gonna go after people,” Mornhinweg said. Whether that's a mediocre QB to replace a terrible one is anyone's guess.
