New Orleans Saints Reveal Update On Marshon Lattimore Rumors
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints have been mentioned a lot in trade rumors throughout the course of the NFL offseason. One of the big rumors that has been swirling around them has been the potential availability of star cornerback Marshon Lattimore on the trade market. However, it doesn’t appear that he’s going to end up being on the move.

Lattimore has been one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL for years now. He has been a lockdown corner that has been a big-time playmaker for the Saints.

Now, there has been an update provided on the Saints’ side of things about their stance with Lattimore.

New Orleans Saints Reveal Update On Marshon Lattimore’s Future

New Orleans head coach Dennis Allen spoke out about the situation and provided a brief and strong update on the two sides moving forward.

“I had a conversation with him. Probably two or three weeks ago. I thought it was a positive conversation. And so we’re moving forward.”

Lattimore is a massive piece for the Saints’ defense and losing him would be tough to rebound from.

During the 2023 season with New Orleans, Lattimore only ended up playing in 10 games. Back in 2022, he played in just seven games. However, in the 10 games he played last year, he racked up 48 total tackles to go along with an interception and eight defended passes.

While his availability has become a concern, he has shown that he can make a big impact when he is on the field. He’s just 28 years old, which gives him a few elite years left in his prime.

Obviously, things could change and the Saints might be open to moving Lattimore if the right trade is offered. The long-term money issue is still a thing and New Orleans might not be willing to pay him what he wants. If that does become an issue, there are plenty of teams around the NFL that would want to acquire him.

Thankfully, no matter what happens with Lattimore, the Saints were able to make a big move in the 2024 NFL Draft. They ended up getting Kool-Aid McKinstry out of Alabama. He projects to be a top-notch cornerback in the future as well, which would soften the blow of losing Lattimore if that ever did happen.

Expect to continue hearing rumors linked to the Saints as the offseason continues forward. Lattimore is going to continue being mentioned as a possible player that could be traded. It doesn’t seem that New Orleans is actively looking to move him now, but it’s still very much an option.
