I usually don’t do a rant but after last Sunday’s game, I have a lot to rant about. You are probably wondering why since the Giants won but still there is the principle of it all.

After watching the game on Sunday I was livid afterwards. I was excited and livid at the same time. If the Giants had lost that game the officials would have a lot of questions to answer.

Back in Week 13 when the Giants hosted the Packers there were a lot of questionable calls. After viewing replays the officials were still confirming the plays that should have been taken away. Here are some examples:

1) Greg Jennings TD – Now how can anyone look at that play and say that he had full control of the ball? He didn’t! Prince knocked it out of his hands because he never had control of it. I have seen many TD’s get called back because it would have been called an incomplete pass. It was a terrible call and had a significant impact on that game.

2) The Jake Ballard TD – I’m calling this one a TD because it just simply was. This one really grinded my gears. I really want to know what the officials look at when they go to review a TD. After seeing photographic evidence of Ballard’s knee being in bounce I was floored. How could they have missed that??!! It’s another thing that significantly changed the game. I honestly believe the Giants would have won the game.

Those were huge game changers. There were some other calls that were also bad but those stand out in my mind the most.

Now let us fast forward to the Divisional Championship game in Green Bay.

I could not believe the incompetence in that game with the officials especially the head official Bill Leavy. How bad can you be?? I will let the first fumble go but the one with Greg Jennings clearly fumbling the ball was clearly the worst call of the game. I didn’t think it could get any worse but the explanation of the call was even more disgusting.

The ball clearly came out and the Giants recovered it, took off with it since it wasn’t called dead and then the officials called it down by contact. Are you serious???!! I mean come on man! Are you going under the hood to watch reruns of Family Guy?? I couldn’t believe it.

The other call was placement of the ball after a clear first down. DJ Ware got the first down and the officials placed the ball like 4 inches behind the first down line. REALLY?! The same thing was done in the Wild Card game against Atlanta where Giants clearly had the first down and the officials did the exact same thing. To have that call made two weeks in a row was utterly repulsive.

There was one other thing that really I couldn’t understand. The officials called a personal foul on Osi for a so called helmet to helmet hit to Rodgers. I was floored! How are they going to call a helmet to helmet hit on Rodgers when they didn’t bother to call the late hits on Eli?? I mean how one sided can it be??

Heck I was seriously shocked that they even called a holding call on the Packers. So shocked that I cheered and I don’t usually cheer for a holding penalty. That’s how bad it was.

I am not one of those fans that blame losses on the officials but in the Divisional game, if it had had a different outcome then I would start a petition to get the official fined. And that is what should happen to officials who make calls that are ridiculous. They should get fined just like players do and if they are getting fined I don’t think it’s enough.

The other thing that just burns me up is that the NFL apologized. What good does that freaking do?? I mean REALLY???! Is the apology going to get us a rematch if need be? Is there a “do over”? I mean seriously an apology is just bunk. I as a fan don’t want to hear an apology. It honestly doesn’t do anything for anyone. I want to know what happens to the official who made the calls. Tell me that.

These games are men’s jobs and it just seems like these officials don’t know what is at stake when they make these calls. It sometimes looks like they are being paid for calling against the opposing team. That’s never a good look.

Mr. Goodell needs to take a closer look at these officials and making sure that they are being fair and making the best calls possible and hold them responsible for these huge mistakes that they make.

I have never been one to place blame on a Giants loss but if Sunday had turned out different I would have blamed them. Thankfully the G-Men overcame those bumps in the road and are off to the NFC Championship game where I hope the calls made are the right kind of calls.
