The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants head into a Week 4 matchup against division rival Philadelphia on a roll.

After dropping their opening game to Cowboys, the Giants have won two straight.

The Eagles, on the other hand, pulled out two close games in the first two weeks, before losing on the road in Arizona last Sunday.

Here are THREE BOLD PREDICTIONS for this Week 4 contest between these NFC East foes:

  • Manning will not end the week as the NFL’s leading passer

Heading into Week 4, Eli Manning was tops in the NFL in passing yards, thanks largely to his 510-yard effort in Week 2. Manning started this week with a 98-yard lead on the next-closest passer – Joe Flacco of Baltimore.

Flacco passed for 356 yards in Baltimore’s 23-16 Thursday night win over Cleveland, giving him the temporary lead in passing yards.

Joe Flacco, BAL                     1,269 yards (through 4 games)

Manning, NYG                     1,011 yards

Michael Vick, PHI                    905 yards

Ben Roethlisberger, PIT            904 yards (Week 4 bye)

Drew Brees, NO                        904 yards

Manning will need 259 passing yards to surge back into the lead over Flacco, but he won’t get it against Philadelphia on Sunday.

The Eagles have allowed just 172.7 passing YPG so far this year – they will hold Manning in check in Week 4.

  • Vick will have his best game of the  season so far

Much has been written about Michael Vick’s turnover problems in the first three games. And while averaging three turnovers a game is not a recipe for success, Vick and the Eagles have certainly been able to move the ball down the field.

The Eagles are fifth in the league in passing yards per game (285.7), and fifth in total offensive YPG (416.3).

After a week of hearing talk about the possibility of being benched, Vick will turn in a solid performance against the Giants.

Vick has led the Eagles to fourth-quarter wins in two of the past three games against Philadelphia, and he will move the ball with his arm and his legs on Sunday.

Look for over 300 yards (passing and rushing) and three TDs – and fewer than three turnovers – from Vick on Sunday.

  • The Eagles will end up looking like  the top team in the division

Philadelphia has won seven out of eight games in this rivalry, including two out of three with Vick under center (Vick missed a game last year due to injury); it will be eight out of nine after Sunday.

An Eagles team that features an explosive offense and a defense capable of making plays (five INTs and seven sacks) will finally put together a complete game in front of a national Sunday Night audience. Manning will try to lead one of his patented fourth-quarter comebacks, but he and the Giants will fall short…  Eagles win, 30-23.
