TEAMS: New England Patriots, New York Giants, Millikin Big Blue
Heading into Sunday’s match-up between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, the latter seem to believe that they have already won. Multiple members of the Giants defense haven’t been shy about what they believe is their ability to shut down Tom Brady in Super Bowl XLVI.
Defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul said in an intrview- “He was reacting to pressure that didn’t exist and he was just throwing the ball places that there wasn’t a receiver there, so imagine us just getting there even faster and we’re actually doing our jobs and getting there and getting hits on him.”
Antrel Rolle reportedly guaranteed a Big Blue win, before backing off of his bold prediction, stating- “Whoever wrote that is a liar.” Not like there are transcripts readily available to anybody who wants to see them. “We’re going to win this thing. We’re going to win this thing for a lot of good reasons.” Rolle also offered this: he stated that the Giants “Won’t be denied.” and that they will “Go out there and take care of business.. it will be done.”
Okay, so maybe he didn’t use the word guarantee, but aside from that, you can’t come any closer. At least defensive tackle Chris Canty had the gall to stick with his prediction. Canty stated “Fans should get ready for a great day on Super Bowl Sunday… and a parade on tuesday.” Throughout all of this, the Patriots have remained mum, aside from one comment. When asked about Canty’s proclamation, Deion Branch replied- “Philadelphia said that too.”
Vince Wilfork offered this much– The game is won between the lines come 6:30 PM on Sunday night. Nothing that anybody says, regardless of which uniform they’ll be wearing on game day, will give them an advantage. One has to wonder, maybe the Giants are a bit overconfident. If that’s the case, I’d hate to be wearing a royal blue helmet on Super Bowl Sunday.
