In 2010, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw a career high 25 interceptions to go along with two lost fumbles. Whether or not those turnovers were solely his fault has been up for fierce debate, but in 2011, he dropped his interception total to 16 and didn't lose a single fumble. It was a remarkable turnaround that ultimately led Big Blue to their fourth Super Bowl title. Now, headed into 2012, Manning is once again focusing on turnovers, looking to trim them even further.

“There are still too many turnovers,” said Manning, who threw 16 interceptions last season, down from 25 during the 2010 season. “Get those down. That is something we can definitely improve on."

The Giants were +7 in turnover ratio in 2011, but still turned the ball over more than once (1.5) per game. That ranked them 17th in the league, and contributed to their constant need to come back and win the game in the fourth quarter … something else Manning aims to change in 2012.

“We can be a little more consistent throughout the whole game. We have a lot of fourth-quarter victories, come from behind, which is nice to have. But it also means you didn’t play real well the first three quarters. So we can be a little consistent," Manning added.

Consistency is essential in the NFL, and that's what the Giants will strive for this season. However, a lot of that also comes down to injuries, and if they're snake bitten like they were a season ago, consistency will be difficult to attain. They've already lost cornerback Brian Witherspoon (ACL) for the season, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (foot) for 12 weeks and have several other players (Martellus Bennett, Travis Beckum, etc.) recovering from or dealing with new injuries.

Alas, their three day mini-camp begins today and gives the team their first opportunity to work on consistency. Stay tuned to Giants 101 throughout the afternoon as we update you from camp.
