The New York Giants are no longer winless on the season after beating the Minnesota Vikings on Monday 23-7. So many things that have gone wrong for the Giants went right. Eli Manning had no turnovers in the game on Monday, and more importantly the Giants defense showed up to play. The defense for the Giants had their best game of the season on Monday night. This does not mean that the Giants will turn it around, but this win is a good one to build off of. The fact that the Giants defense played better is something to cheer about. The final score may say 23-7, but the Giants defense pitched a shutout. The Vikings only scored on a punt return, and had no other form of offense the entire game. Josh Freeman looked as uncomfortable as one could be in the pocket. Now that could be because he did not know the playbook, but the Giants forced some very bad throws with their pressure. The Giants even got one sack in the game, which is a rare occurrence this season. With the pressure the Giants defense brought they were able to keep Adrian Peterson in check all game. Adrian Peterson was held to only 28 yards for the entire game. That is pretty hard thing to against one of the best running backs in the NFL, and the reigning NFL MVP. The Giants have struggled with stopping the run, and this game was a big improvement. Other bright spots for the Giants are that Jon Beason was effective at the middle linebacker position. He has performed well as a Giant so far. He has revived praise from his coaches and teammates, and has been a valuable addition. Also the Giants were able to force turnovers on defense and special teams. Antrel Rolle had an interception, and the special teams recovered two fumbles. This win has lots of positives for the Giants to build on, and it gives them momentum going into next Sunday’s game against the Eagles. The Giants defense will have to have a repeat performance in order to win next Sunday. LeSean McCoy was tough for the Giants to stop before, but if they can stop him like they stopped Peterson, they have a better chance to beat the Eagles

In my eyes...

New York Giants: Should they trade Hakeem Nicks?

The New York Giants face a dilemma with wide receiver Hakeem Nicks this season, and that is his upcoming free agency. There have been rumors of teams interested in trading for the young wide receiver from North Carolina. Hakeem Nicks is only 25 and he is a number one receiver talent in the NFL. Before Victor Cruz exploded on to the scene, Nicks was the Giants top receiver. He can...

Hakeem Nicks underwent X-rays on his finger

According to the New York Daily News,  Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks underwent X-rays on his finger after Monday night’s win over the Vikings. You have to wonder if Nicks reinjured the same finger he dislocated earlier this season.  I’m sure he’ll be able to play through whatever is nagging him. The Giants certainly need Nicks as they get ready to travel to Philly this...

Giants RB Jacobs inactive; rookie Cox starts

New York Giants rookie Michael Cox is making his first start with halfback Brandon Jacobs inactive for Monday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Jacobs tweaked a hamstring in the fourth quarter of the Giants' 27-21 loss to the Bears on Oct. 10, but the injury didn't respond to treatment. Cox has not carried the ball, other than two kickoff returns. Giants...

Giants’ David Baas Placed on Injured Reserve

Win a game, lose your center.  Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk has reported that New York Giants center David Baas was placed on Injured Reserve today, effectively ending his 2013 campaign. Baas has been only average with Big Blue since arriving from San Francisco, but regardless, he was their starter and will need to be replaced. The Giants haven’t made a roster move to address...

Eagles offense not complicated, says Giants defensive back Terrell Thomas

The big bad light-speed Chip Kelly offense isn’t so complicated after all. That’s what Giants corner Terrell Thomas thinks. The Eagles’ fast break attack yeah the same one that torched Big Blue for 439 total yards in Philly’s 36-21 win on Oct. 6 has taken the NFL by storm but Thomas said Wednesday that he’s not worried about it or big-play receiver DeSean Jackson either...

Welcome Back, Peyton Hillis!

On Monday night’s football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants, the NFL world saw the rebirth of a player who only a few years ago was considered a game-changer. That’s right, I’m talking about Peyton Hillis, former star running back and Madden NFL 2012 cover athlete. In 2010, as a member of the Cleveland Browns, Hillis rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns...

Manning, Giants with 'winning feeling back'

Giants RB On The Cover Of Sports Hillis-trated

The narrative of tonight’s game would best be read in a Sam Elliott voice.  No, I’m not talking about those crappy Dodge commercials.  No again, I’m not talking about his turn as the Chupadogra in Marmaduke.  How’d you even know he was that without Wikipedia anyways?  Nah, I’m rocking The Big Lebowski on this one and going with ‘The Stranger’.  Sometimes there’s...

Giants with stout defense notch first win over the Vikings 23-7
