The New York Giants are going to have some tough decisions to make in the coming months on who’s going to be their first option at wide receiver for the long-term. The New York Giants have some strong weapons at wide out in Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz but changes maybe upon us.Here is the problem though, they both are unrestricted free agents in 2014 and they both want to get paid big. The New York Giants have gone on record and said that they will be looking to extend a contract to Nicks first and then will negotiate with Cruz. But Mara has gone back on those words recently. If you had to choose which WR you would keep who would it be? I can tell you that Hakeem Nicks when healthy is a better choice for the club because he’s long and doesn’t drop many balls like Victor Cruz does. Both are great options but Nicks is the keeper. It’s a pretty tough position for any team to be in but it’s a fun thing as well. Many teams wish they had wide receivers like Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. They both helped the New York Giants capture their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history in 2012. These kinds of players only come so often as a pair and to stay together for the long run can be rare as well.New York Giants fans and owner John Mara would love to see them both signed and locked up for the long term but finances come first and that’s what the team will do,  is look to see what they can afford for each player and if the price is too high they will have to let one go.I can tell you that even with the salsa dancing Victor Cruz having great success with the G-Men in the past 2 years, the market may not be as high as $10 million per season for him. Even though we know that there are teams that will overpay for a player like him just to sell tickets and maybe potential success. The Giants aren’t that team that will do that.As a New York Giants fan I have to sit back just like all of you and wait to see how this plays out because the last thing I want to see is Victor Cruz on a holdout for next season. This isn’t what the New York Giants wants or needs. Cruz holding out will be a big distraction for a team that missed the playoffs last season. They will be on a mission for continued greatness.
