Yes we are in a lockout, but that doesn’t mean teams cannot hire coaches. The Giants are making strides to improve their special teams which has been one of the worst units in the NFL over the past two seasons. Larry Izzo, long time special teamer for the Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets, will join the Giants as a special teams assistant coach. Izzo appeared in three Pro Bowls as a special teams specialist and won three Super Bowls with the Patriots. If he can’t improve the special teams unit then maybe it’s time to find some new players. Izzo is replacing Thomas McGaughey who left earlier this year for a position at Louisiana State.
