San Francisco 49ers
The Giants will go through one more day of workouts here before they head out to San Francisco to face the 49ers for the NFC Championship on Sunday.
Here is what you need to know….
Eli Manning returned to practice yesterday after leaving practice early Wednesday with a stomach virus. He practiced with the first team and looked as if he never left. He says he is “100%” and ready for Sunday.
The only Giant to sit out of Thursday’s practice was RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot). He will practice today. Everyone else was suited up and working with the team. LB Mark Herzlich (ankle), DE Justin Tuck (shoulder), DE Osi Umenyiora (ankle, knee), CB Corey Webster (hamstring) were all limited. DB Deon Grant practiced with a brace on his arm.
RB Brandon Jacobs commented on Jerry Rice‘s assertion that he is “soft”….after Jacobs showered Rice with praise, he predicted: “I bet you he won’t tackle me…”
49ers All-Pro LB Patrick Willis did not participate in practice yesterday due to a “previously undisclosed

(01-21) 23:02 PST - Who's had it worse than 49ers quarterback Alex Smith?
Granted, it's tough to pin down which No. 1 overall pick had a more rugged introduction to the NFL, but Smith gives the nod to his counterpart in today's NFC Championship Game pitting the Niners and...
The most famous, 24-hour “bug” in the tri-state area departed on schedule by Thursday morning, allowing Giants fans everywhere to take a deep breath. Eli Manning is fine. “Yeah, I’m 100 percent,” the Giants’ franchise quarterback declared, one day after he left practice early ...
Alex Smith has been thrown around plenty throughout his career. The 49ers have made three head coaching changes and gone through even more offensive systems since he was drafted in 2005. He’s been benched because of injuries or poor play, but still managed to become the starter again. Overcoming all that led Vernon Davis to call Smith the “strongest individual” he’s met....
Eli Manning's season started with a debate about whether or not he was an elite quarterback and it might end with another debate.
It won't be about his elite status as any remaining holdouts have long ago given up that fight. The debate this time will be about whether or not he's the best quarterback in the Manning family.
If he wins on Sunday against the 49ers, Eli...
While the 49ers and the Ravens might have more complete defenses and the Patriots may lay claim for having the league’s best offense, but out of the teams still left in the playoffs the Giants could conceivably be the most complete team.
As the Giants come together late in the season they are firing on all cylinders, both offensively and defensively. They are proving to be a matchup...

I noted in my look back at the Green Bay game that it seems like recently every time we have had a 3rd and 10 that Easy Eli has been there to keep the drive alive with a huge completion. If it seems that way to anyone else too, there is good reason. Eli has been lights out on 3rd/medium-3rd/long. Not good, not great-LIGHTS OUT. Nearly perfect.
Here's the thing, the chart below...
If Kevin Gilbride were 30-something, he’d be the hottest head coaching prospect in the NFL.
Think about it. He has developed and groomed one of the elite quarterbacks in the league in Eli Manning, serving as first his quarterbacks coach and now offensive coordinator during his eight-year career.
