The World Champion New York Giants have not done anything over the top this offseason, but have done enough to not be completely forgotten. Despite winning on the grandest stage of them all, the Giants still have room for improvement. They finished 9-7 (should have been 8-8), barely making the playoffs. New York had three notable losses during the free agency period. Super Bowl “hero” Mario Manningham signed with the San Francisco 49ers, defensive back Aaron Ross signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and running back Brandon Jacobs was released. Several players, including defensive back Terrell Thomas, re-signed with the team, while Martellus Bennett was the only major free agent signing that the Giants made. The draft is now over and New York did a solid job filling most of their needs. Now that the off-season’s two major events have come to a close, it is time to take a look at who the projected starters will be for the G-Men. Offense Quarterback: Eli Manning Beginning with ...

New York Giants Mini-Camp: 5 Rookies To Watch

With the New York Giants Mini-camp underway (May 11-13), a lot is expected from the Giants top 3 selections in the 2012 Draft: (RB) David Wilson, (WR) Rueben Randle and (CB) Jayron Hosley. Aside from these top three prospects, I have compiled my top 5 rookies who I feel might make an impact in 2012 or even beyond. My selections were based on where they were drafted, overall ability...

Giants sign 1st round pick David Wilson

The New York Giants can officially start planning on the best ways to replace Brandon Jacobs next season with the signing of their first round pick David Wilson, the running back from Virginia Tech. Wilson joins veteran NYG backs Ahmad Bradshaw, DJ Ware, Da’Rel Scott, and Andre Brown with a deal ESPN.com is reporting should be somewhere around $3.3 million based on where he was...

WR Rueben Randle showing Giants he's NFL-ready

The New York Giants boasted that Rueben Randle was NFL-ready after taking the LSU receiver in the second round of draft, and the kid didn't disappoint as the Super Bowl champions opened a rookie minicamp on Friday. Randle went up high to catch a pass along the sideline and later burned third-round draft choice Jayron Hosley on a ''go'' pattern in the morning...

Giants see big potential in undersized CB Hosley

Although he stands only 5-10 and weighs 170 pounds, cornerback Jayron Hosley, the team's third-round draft pick, is a good example of a player that the team believes can play larger than his physical size. "He's not the biggest guy in the world," said general manager Jerry Reese. "However, we do think he is a competitive, feisty guy and he's one of those...

New York Giants: Stacy Robinson Loses Battle With Cancer

I had the pleasure of meeting Stacy Robinson back in the summer of 1987.  After that encounter, I can honestly say that I have never met a nicer and more gracious person.  Robinson lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 50. He was a member of the 1986 and 1990 Super Bowl Championship squads and played his entire career (six seasons) as a Giant. Drafted out of North Dakota...

Teams need more than just a quarterback to win

This offseason has been characterized by quarterback changes. Manning to Denver, Luck drafted by the Colts, Griffin drafted by the Redskins, Tebow vs. Sanchez, Weeden vs. McCoy; they're all great story lines, but they also highlight a growing perception that may just be completely off base. You need a quarterback to win a championship. That's completely true, but you also...

NFL First Round Picks David Wilson and Luke Kuechly Agree To Contracts

The New York Giants signed running back David Wilson on Friday, while the Carolina Panthers locked up linebacker Luke Kuechly.  Both players were the first round draft picks for their respective teams last April. The two franchises joined Green Bay, Chicago, San Diego and Seattle as the teams who have agreed to a contract with their first round pick, according to ESPN. Kuechly...

Rich Ohrnberger to try out for Giants

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. That’s what Rich Ohrnberger is hoping to do, as the former New England Patriot will attend a try out with the world champion New York Giants. As you may recall, the Giants beat the Patriots in this year’s Super Bowl for the second time since 2008. Ohrnberger had been a member of the more recent Pats Super Bowl losing squad, although he...
