The New York Giants are definitely making some noise and breaking news this off-season by releasing their star running back Ahmad Bradshaw last week. They didn’t even give it much time after the Super Bowl was over to do it. I’m not going to lie to you; I’m having a difficult time accepting this cut. Bradshaw was no Ray Rice or Frank Gore of the NFL but he was a good back and deserved to stay on the team. Let’s not forget and have a short memory either that he helped the New York Giants win both of their Super Bowls in 2007 and 2011.People will say that the emergence of young 21 year old running back David Wilson was the cause of Bradshaw’s release and I say that’s total bull. I know that Bradshaw isn’t a spring chicken in NFL running back years but he’s still young at 26 years old. He’s in the prime of his career and he still has an upside to his arsenal. The New York Giants were the ones in 2011 that gave Bradshaw a 4 year, $18 million contract and now they just say “we don’t want you anymore”. Bradshaw just came off a 1,000 rushing yard season with the team. I can understand if he was paid the big bucks like the top running backs and he was underperforming I could understand that. But he is almost in my opinion outperforming his contract. The knock on Ahmad Bradshaw is that he fumbles the ball too much and is injury prone. So those concerns can make a team cringe but I just think that the two can get a deal done where he comes back to the New York Giants and everyone can move on from this. I remember not long ago the New York Giants made it work with Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Bradshaw altogether to become an elusive running tandem in the NFL. They were once called “Earth, Wind and Fire”.The worst news is that Bradshaw became so desperate to stay in New York that he came out and said he wanted to play for the New York Jets. The reason why is because of a recent purchase in New York; the Jets declined his offer!
