Scott Tolzien (Photo credit: USA Today Sports) This Sunday the New York Giant (3-6) will be looking to keep their momentum going and build on their three game winning streak, as they play the Green Bay Packers (5-4) at MetLife stadium. The New York Giants are currently one and a half games out of first place in the NFC East behind the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. This again is a must win in order for the Giants to keep pace within the division. Going into this game they have a big advantage against the Green Bay Packers, and that is because Aaron Rodgers is out with a broken collarbone. The Green Bay Packers have decided to give quarterback Scott Tolzien his first career start this Sunday against the Giants. Tolzien is an undrafted rookie out of the University of Wisconsin. He was put into the game against Philadelphia after Seneca Wallace suffered a groin injury, and Tolzien went 24 for 39 with one touchdown pass. The Giants are going to have to create pressure against Tolzien to have a good defensive game. He is a young rookie quarterback making his first start and will probably be limited in the plays he runs. The Giants have had luck with unsettled quarterbacks this season with Josh Freeman and Matt Barkley. To make this worst for Green Bay two offensive lineman who’s statuses are unclear, and the will be without wide reciver Randal Cobb, and tight end Jermichael Finley. The Packers are going to have to rely on their running game and defense to win this game. Green Bay’s running game is ranked 6th in the league, and rookie running back Eddie Lacy is 8th in rushing yards with 699 yards. The same goes for the Giants with Andre Brown. Andre Brown should provide stability in the running game, and should allow the Giants to not have Eli Manning dropping back for 30 or 40 passes. The Packers are proficient at getting after the quarterback and Eli Manning has been one of the most sacked quarterbacks this season. With Brown running effectively, the Giants can remedy that, and it will allow Eli to work the play action pass, which he does well with. If the Packers get pressure the on Eli they will be able to force turnovers. The Packers defense will have to make up for the lack of offense, and they will have to keep the Giants offense in check to give themselves a chance. In the end the Giants will be the victors of this game, and will be one game closer to first place in the division. The Packers are without Aaron Rodgers and will not be able to get their offense up and running. The Giants should not have a difficult time with the Packers on Sunday. The Giants win this game 34-21.
