Slayton led Giants in receiving this past season, and four of past 5 years. https://t.co/r6g3i6s1he
Slayton signed a two-year, $12.2 million contract prior to last season. He's due $6.2 million in the final year of his deal this season.
Slayton has been a regular attendee of the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. He has a $350,000 workout bonus available based on his attendance this year, but he still seems likely to skip the spring in search of a new contract.

This choice is bold - to say the least. Yes, Slayton has led the team in receiving four of the past five years. Considering their receiver room in that stretch, those numbers don't quite live up to what you would expect from a team's top receiver, though.
For other wideouts, like CeeDee Lamb or Justin Jefferson, a decision like this would make sense. Slayton simply is not on that sort of level.
Does the veteran WR probably deserve a bit more security in a deal rather than just another one-year contract? That's certainly fair. He's been pretty consistent during a time when the Giants offense has been anything except that on an annual basis.
Regardless, we will see how long this "holdout" stays true for Slayton. Tight end Darren Waller was also not present at the voluntary workouts to begin the Giants offseason program as he contemplates retirement.
