The New York Jets will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14. Scheduled for a 1 p.m. EST kickoff this game will be aired on CBS where available. Mark Sanchez will start for the Jets, a week after he was benched for third-string quarterback Greg McElroy. McElroy led the Jets to a 7-6 win against Arizona but will again be the third string option this week should Tim Tebow’s ribs be healthy. The Jets are a mess on both sides of the ball as their once great defense has showed signs of aging and injuries this season falling to 22nd in the league in points allowed. Jacksonville named Chad Henne the starter a few weeks ago. Henne has had a couple of good games and a stinker last week. The Jaguars remain without Maurice Jones Drew and their defense is allowing 28.5 points per game. Despite all the points these teams give up its hard to expect a lot of scoring because of how bad their offenses are. So whats the spread in the Jets and Jaguars game? Most places have the Jets favored in thi...

Flight Delayed: Why The New York Jets Need To Start Greg McElroy Over Mark Sanchez

The New York Jets have found themselves in a rather familiar situation throughout the 2012 season.  They are making headlines.  The Rex Ryan era has been full of promises, successes, disappointments, and turmoil.  The last three plus years in New York have been nothing short of a media frenzy, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Last Sunday, Rex Ryan chose to...

Jets Would Incur $17.1M Hit If They Cut QM Mark Sanchez

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will be nearly impossible to trade in the offseason because of the $8.25 million in guaranteed money he's due next year. Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com reports that the Jets would swallow a $17.1 million cap charge if they released Sanchez. So they'd essentially have to pay Sanchez to be a quality starter, and eat a salary cap equivalent to...

Rex Ryan does not feel that loyalty to Mark Sanchez will cost him his job

When New York Jets coach Rex Ryan benched his quarterback Mark Sanchez on Sunday he made a statement. Initially the statement seemed to be ‘forget Sanchez and Tim Tebow, I am going with the kid that went to Alabama: Greg McElroy.’ That thought was confirmed as a misfire on Wednesday when Ryan declared that he would return to Sanchez to start this Sunday’s game against the...

No Change of Pilot on This Jet: Sanchez Gets the Nod to Start

Despite being pulled late in last weeks game, Mark Sanchez will be the starting QB for the Jets this Sunday. (Mandatory Credit: Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE) How many loses and inexcusable turnovers does it take a coach to make a quarterback change? Apparently for Rex Ryan seven loses and 18 turnovers (4th most in the league) are not enough for his likening. Remember the likes of Joey...

Jets find hero in unlikely third choicer

If one incident proved this week that, while class may be permanent form is certainly a favourable attribute to have, it was in New York as the Jets beat Arizona thanks to the unlikeliest of players. The Jets, on a 4-7 record heading into the game and outsiders in the NFL betting odds thanks to having one of the worst offences in the NFL, overcame fellow strugglers Arizona 7-6 in...

Preview: Jets (5-7) @ Jaguars (2-10)

This week the Jets travel to Tim Tebow's hometown to play the Jaguars, unfortunately for the legion of Tebow supporters who undoubtedly wanted to line up to watch him play quarterback, equally unfortunate for many Jet fans that Greg McElroy won't be getting the start either, as you know, since it's all that anyone has talked about the entire week, Mark Sanchez will remain...

Only in New York? Greg McElroy declared inactive for Jets after leading them to victory in week 13

Per multiple sources including Jason LaCanfora on twitter Tim Tebow is active today for the Jets. Tebow has been the second man on the Jets depth chart all year; so, maybe it was a ‘can’t lose your spot due to injury’ piece; maybe Rex Ryan thinks he’s their best backup quarterback; or maybe it was a marketing ploy by Woody Johnson and/or NFL higherups; either way, McElroy...

AFC East: Mark Sanchez And Shonn Greene Help Jets Keep Hope Alive

Jets Wanted Chad Henne, Not Tim Tebow, to Compete With Mark Sanchez for Quarterback Job

The quarterback controversy in New York appears to have no end in sight. And another wrinkle just made it even more complicated. Mark Sanchez is keeping his starting job, for now. But after being benched for third-stringer Greg McElroy last week, and chants for Tim Tebow continuing to fill the stands at MetLife Stadium, Sanchez may not have that job for very long. Now, as the Jets...

Pity the New York Jets: Reid latest with swipe

A loss could mean a plethora of depth chart adjustments next week. The good thing is, the Jets are in Jacksonville to face an absolutely...

Initial Reaction – Ugly But Winning Football, Jets Move To 6-7

It has been far from pretty but the New York Jets have won two games in a row and three of their last four after today’s 17-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
