“Phew, Finally!” Those are quite possibly the words Chris Ivory spoke when he realized the job is finally his (to lose) as the lead running back in New York. And that’s really the truth. It’s his to lose.I know what you’re thinking. “The Jets are horrendously awful and won’t move the chains enough to produce a stable running game.” Yes, this is possible if they truly are THAT bad this season. But you aren’t going to have to pay a hefty premium for Ivory in this years draft in most leagues, so why not roll with the guy?  After all, SOMEONE has to get all these carries.Take a chance on Ivory. There’s definitely a silver lining with this guy. He’s proved (when given the brief opportunity in New Orleans) that he has “every down back” potential, and the dude runs HARD and doesn’t go down easily. He’s a 6-foot, 220-pound explosive back who has shown breakaway speed in the open field. If you recall, two seasons ago, he was a lovely surprise to many fantasy owners that picked this guy u

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack – New York Jets Big Uglies Edition

The Turn On The Jets 12 pack is back with an all New York Jets offensive line edition. This year’s group has the potential to be the deepest and most productive offensive line the Jets have put together in a few seasons. The big uglies never get enough love or recognition so this 12 pack is for you.  1. Nick Mangold - Great Beard, yes. On the field Mangold was arguably the best...

New York Jets: Biggest concerns on both sides of the ball

The New York Jets were a comedy of errors in 2012. With an underwhelming offseason that has included the trading away of the team’s best player, a controversial quarterback drafting, the loss of the team’s best quarterback due to injury and the arrest of a running back that many had high hopes for, most are predicting yet another embarrassing season for this team. While the concerns...

95-Day New York Jets Warning – At Least We Have One Landry

Here at Turn On The Jets, we decided to take a page out of Robert Mays book over at Grantland (a polite way of saying rip his article idea off) by counting down the 115 days until the New York Jets kick off, with a daily reason to get excited about their return. Mays has the whole NFL to work with, we only have the Goddamn Jets…now there is a challenge, step your game up Mays...

Jets giving Winslow tryout

Veteran tight end Kellen Winslow, Jr. will get a tryout with the New York Jets on Tuesday during their minicamp. Winslow barely played last season, making just one reception for New England in one game. He spent his first four seasons in Cleveland, making the Pro Bowl in 2007. Winslow then joined Tampa Bay for three seasons. He could fill a void at the position for the Jets, who...

Rex Ryan: Jets Not Close to Naming Starting QB

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday that the Jets are not close to naming a starting quarterback just yet. “I don’t believe we’re close to that right now,” Ryan told the media after practice Wednesday. “Obviously, we don’t have to make that move right now. Until we feel 100 percent comfortable with that decision, we’ll leave it to competition.” The open...

Jets Players go Paintball Shooting to Improve Team Chemistry (Video)

If the New York Jets want to be a better football team instead of going paintball shooting, they could simply just exercise better focus and discipline and stop running into each others behinds. According to Busted Coverage, the players decided to skip the last day of OTAs and go to a secret location to engage in some activities that will improve team chemistry. I hope that works...

Daily Haze: The Obligatory Offseason Tim Tebow Post, And Why Is He Still Being Drafted?

Tim Tebow fanboys had much more fun last summer. ESPN descended upon Jets’ training camp last summer, providing daily hourly coverage in the battle between Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez for starting quarterback job. The coverage was, in a word, ridiculous. Tebow never won the job and had zero positive impact on the football field in 2012. Except for maybe this funny moment: Tebow...

Santonio Holmes is mentoring Stephen Hill

As we all know by now, New York Jets’ receiver Santonio Holmes is recovering from a foot surgery and will not be ready for the start of training camp. That, however, doesn’t mean Holmes hasn’t found a way to help out. According to Brian Costello of the, Holmes has been mentoring second year receiver Stephen Hill. According to the receiver coach Sanjay Lal, Holmes...

Mark Sanchez Doesn’t Know Names of His Receivers at Jets OTAs

With wide receivers Santonio Holmes, Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley all recovering from injuries, Mark Sanchez doesn’t know much about the receivers he’s been throwing to at Jets OTAs. He might start by learning their names. Sanchez has been throwing passes to five entirely new receivers during organized team activities over the past few weeks, and he doesn’t even know their...

Jets' makeshift WR situation not aiding QB bout

BY NICK ST. DENISWhile Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith battle over the New York Jets' lone starting quarterback job, they're depending on a random hodgepodge of receivers to help their respective cases. (photo: Billtacular, Flickr)Gang Green has been without their No. 1 wideout during OTAs. They're also missing their No. 2 this week. Oh, and their No. 3 and No. 4 options...

Jets Already Giving Up On 2013, Skip Practice For Paintball

The New York Jets are likely to be a terrible football team this season. Faced with quarterback options like Mark Sanche…

Jets giving Kellen Winslow Jr. a tryout

The New York Jets have brought in former-Pro Bowl tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. for a tryout after losing Dustin Keller to the Miami Dolphins via free agency. The move is interesting because Winslow Jr. was at one point looking like one of the better tight ends in the NFL — where his best season was in 2007, with the Cleveland Browns, where he caught 82 balls for 1,107 receiving...
