The New York Jets and safety Ed Reed reached an agreement Thursday on a contract after the nine-time Pro Bowler cleared waivers after following his release by the Houston Texans. The Jets announced that Reed is expected to be at today’s practice. Reed, a first-round pick of the Ravens in the 2002 draft, played his first 11 seasons in Baltimore before appearing in seven games with the Houston Texans this season. Jets coach Rex Ryan is familiar with Reed’s talents as he was the Ravens defensive assistant from 1999-08. Ryan acknowledged on Wednesday that he had conversations with general manager John Idizk about Reed. Reed, who signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Texans, underwent hip surgery last offseason and missed the first two games.  He had no interceptions, no pass break-ups and only 16 tackles for the Texans. Reed will be available to play for the Jets’ game on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. The post New York Jets, Ed Reed reach agreement on new contract appeared first on Sports Glory.
