Quarterback Geno Smith was benched in the second half of the New York Jets 23-3 loss to the (6-6) Miami Dolphins Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Rex Ryan will have to deciede which quarterback gives the Jets the best chance to win and make the playoffs The New York Jets have fallen into a gaping whole after the loss to the Dolphins on Sunday, extending their losing streak to three games and causing them to fall to (5-7) on the season. The Jets were outplayed in every aspect of the game on Sunday and have now will have a tough time keeping pace in the AFC to make the playoffs. The question for the Rex Ryan and gang green is who will be the starting quarterback the rest of the season? Ryan refused to name the starting quarterback for next weeks matchup against the Oakland Raiders. Geno Smith got off to another slow start again on Sunday against Miami. He was 4-of-10 for 29 yards, an interception and a 8.3 quarterback rating. Smith simply just couldn’t string drives together to move the ball down the field. In the first half, Smith missed open receivers and in result led the Jets to just two first downs. The offense wasn’t much more efficient with Matt Simms in the second half. Simms went 9 for 18 with 79 yards, an interception and was sacked three time; one sacking leading to a fumble lost. The Jets defense also didn’t impress. The Dolphins ran 50 offensive plays in the first half Sunday, more yards then the Jets offensive gained. Ryan Tannehill threw for 331 yards and 2 touchdowns and the Jets only sacked the second year quarterback once. The Dolphins had 25 first downs and controlled the ball for 37 minutes. Miami racked up over 400 yards of total offense something that rarely happens to the Jets defense. Rookie cornerback Dee Milliner was benched again Sunday after giving a poor effort on a play that led to a Mike Wallace touchdown. The New York Jets are turning into what everyone had predicted at the beginning of the year. The Jets are struggling at quarterback and do not have the necessary pieces on offense to overcome the consistently bad performances they are getting from the quarterback position. Geno Smith has just one touchdown along with 11 interceptions in his last 7 games. Rex  Ryan has a tough decision to make this week and has not named a starter. A loss to Oakland on Sunday will just about end the Jets dreams of making the playoffs and can be the deciding fate of Ryan’s future with the organization.
