The New York Jets made their first “big” signing of the off-season today by locking up former Oakland Raiders running back Mike Goodson to a 3 year, 6.9 million dollar contract. This is a decision Jets fans should be happy about. Why?
You just saw two things we haven’t seen in the Jets backfield in a LONG time, a successful screen pass and speed. Here is what you need to know about Goodson
- He has very good speed, shiftiness and hands. Goodson is a one-cut runner who will fit very well in Marty Mornhinweg’s offense. Based on pure talent alone, he is easily the Jets best running back on their current roster. As it stands today, Goodson and Bilal Powell would form an inside/outside combination, likely splitting the bulk of the carries. Joe McKnight’s days could be numbered in New York.
- In a limited role last year, Goodson had 35 carries for 221 yards with a whopping 6.3 YPC. He also had 16 receptions for 195 yards. Despite only having 51 touches, he had four plays of over 40 yard...

Jets must push to get Steven Jackson
These are the facts:
The Jets had a terrible running game before Shonn Greene joined the Titans.
Steven Jackson is still available and the Jets must get him.
Rex Ryan consistently promises a return to the ground-and-pound running style that was so effective during the team’s 2009 and 2010 runs to the AFC Championship – but the Jets running game has been in decline since...
Rex’s Sentence – A Gutted Roster With One Last Chance To Impress
For Rex Ryan, it won’t be easy telling the world with a straight face that the 2013 Jets will be the “most talented” team that he has ever coached. Like he did last season, before the spotty 6-10 club showed what they really were. Ryan’s one year sentence for believing, while criminally playing a role in the miscalculating over the past few seasons, is that he will have to...

Bucs “willing” to pay Darrelle Revis $16 million?
Slowly but surely it seems reports are starting to agree that a deal between the Buccaneers and the Jets for Darrelle Revis will happen during the owners meetings next week. The initial report claiming it will happen also stated a deal was already in place. Friday, an article published in the New York Daily News apparently has a price tag on that said deal after the amount has been...
The gutting of the Jets continues…Dustin Keller gets one year deal from the Dolphins
If you need further proof that the Jets will not have Mark Sanchez starting at quarterback, just look at the move to let Dustin Keller go to the rival Dolphins. Keller in many respects was Sanchez security blanket in the Jets offense. Sanchez had a comfort level with Keller. When a play would break down Sanchez would fall back to Keller. There has been rumblings of the Jets being...
