The New York Jets held their annual Green White scrimmage yesterday at SUNY Cortland. Both Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez were not very impressive during the scrimmage. Geno Smith got the nod to start the scrimmage but did not play as well as expected. Smith has yet to throw an interception in camp but during the scrimmage, Smith went 9 of 16 for only 77 yards. Smith only led the Jets to three points on four drives. Mark Sanchez on the other hand did lead the Jets to 10 points on 5 possessions, throwing a 57-yard touchdown pass on the final drive. Sanchez was 6 of 10 for 93 yards but was sacked twice and threw an interception. Ryan didn’t comment heavily on which quarterback was more impressive but did say Geno Smith’s first drive was ‘tremendous’. Smith drove the Jets down the field but they recorded five penalties, one negating a touchdown. Geno Smith got the start in the Green White Scrimmage. A starter for the Jets first preseason game Friday night against Detroit has yet to be named. The quarterbacks  have three practices before the preseason opener to show what they can do and be named the starter. Other Notes: Bilal Powell had a fantasitc scrimmage Saturday night and got high praise from Rex Ryan. Ryan said Powell was the most impressive player on the field and is happy Powell is making the most of the opportunities he has been given. Chris Ivory and Joe McKnight both didn’t play in the scrimmage letting Powell show that he can handle the starting role. Dee Milliner got time in the nickel package with the first team in tonight’s scrimmage. Milliner hasn’t seen much action in practice but got a chance to show he belonged with the starters in the scrimmage. Ryan said that Milliner can still work his way into the starting lineup and beat out Kyle Wilson for the starting cornerback spot along side Antonio Cromartie.
