According to a report by ESPN.com’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, the New York Jets are close to coming to an agreement with free agent quarterback David Garrard. In the report, Schefter quotes Garrard as saying  he, “Anticipates putting a deal together” with the Jets, who have to sort through some salary cap issues before a deal can be completed. Another source close to the situation cited by Schefter said the deal is likely. Garrard worked out with the Jets last thursday and according to the report, the team came away impressed with the 35-year old quarterback, whom they think would fit well in their offensive system.
