TEAMS: Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, New York Jets
Nobody is more aware or in support of the New York Jets upgrading their safety position than this website. However, signing free agent safety Brandon Meriweather is far from the right approach when it comes to fixing arguably the team’s weakest spot. If you are looking to sign a player who has seen their play has radically decline the past two years, is a penalty/fine drawing machine on the field and a major liability off it, then go ahead and sign Meriweather.
In 2009, Meriweather put together a strong year for the New England Patriots finishing with 83 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles. In 2010, those numbers declined to 68 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 0 forced fumbles. He also picked up a $50,000 dollar fine for a hit on Todd Heap. The Patriots cut Merriweather right before the 2011 season and say what you want about them, they know a thing or two about making roster decisions. He was picked up by the Bears where he played in only 11 games, starting 4. He finished ...

New York Jets: Getting Closer To Action
It is easy to be frustrated at the moment if you are a New York Jets fan. The Buffalo Bills signed Mario Williams and have already been crowned the best defense in the AFC East but you should know better than anybody not to buy into March coronations, right? While your anger is justified at right tackle until a player not named Hunter or Ducasse is starting, the Jets do appear to...
Jets re-sign K Nick Folk
The Jets have re-signed kicker Nick Folk, who spent the last two years with the team.
Folk, a former Pro Bowl selection with Dallas, converted 19 of 25 field-goal attempts last season, but three of those misses were from 50 yards or more.
Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Folk was signed by the Jets in 2010 after three seasons with the Cowboys. After struggling...
Mark Sanchez: Anonymous critics are ‘gutless’
Mark Sanchez has become a frequent target for the media and fans, but he was skewered more than usual this offseason. Former Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins said Sanchez needed to grow a pair and become a team leader. At least he attached his name to his criticism. The most notable criticism came from an anonymously sourced NY Daily News article, the contents of which were refuted...
New York Jets continue search for veteran quarterback
The New York Jets are continuing their search for a backup quarterback. Heading into free agency, it was speculated that the Jets organization would pursue free agent QB Chad Henne. Henne was a logical connect-the-dots option given that Henne’s former head coach, Tony Sparano is is the Jets current offensive coordinator.
Henne stayed in Florida, signing a two-year...

The New York Jets have added backup quarterback Drew Stanton with a $1.25 million, 1-year contract.

Report: Jets Interested In Bringing Back Jerricho Cotchery
Manish Mehta, the New York Jets beat writer for the New York Daily News, is reporting via Twitter on Wednesday that the Jets have expressed interest in bringing back wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery per a source. The Jets released Cotchery last August after his request to be cut loose as he reportedly was unhappy with his role as the Jets No. 3 receiver. Cotchery of course ended up...
Dolphins Agree To Terms With Free Agent LB Jamaal Westerman
According to ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini, the Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms with former Jets linebacker Jamaal Westerman. The 6'3", 255 pound three-year veteran registered 32 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a pair of forced fumbles last season. Westerman is a low-risk, high-reward signing. It's unclear what his role with the team will be, but based on his performance...
Jets QB Mark Sanchez Says All Is Well With Him And WR Santonio Holmes
Mark Sanchez says the Jets lost some of our identity on offense last season, and insists the rift between him and wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been smoothed over. Sanchez, speaking Thursday night before being honored by the Randalls Island Sports Foundation in Manhattan, says Brian Schottenheimers offense struggled after New York became enamored of its receiving corps...
Schilens Joins Jets
Wide receiver Chad Schilens has agreed to a deal with the New York Jets. Contract details are yet to be disclosed.
Fantasy Spin:
The Jets are high on Schilens and feel he is even good enough to fill their need for a No. 2 receiver, but that is overly optimisic - going by his poor track record with the Raiders - and is more likely going to work as a sub-package weapon.
