I think we can officially be call Cam Newton's 2012 campaign a sophomore slump. On Sunday the Panthers quarterback played his worst game as a pro, losing 16-12 to the Seattle Seahawks. The Seattle defense utterly dominated the game, holding the Panthers to 190 yards total offense, and just three points scored by the offense. Cam Newton put up a monumental stink bomb in the first half, completing just 3-of-15 passes. He finished his day with just 141 passing yards and 42 more on the ground. Seattle's rookie quarterback Russell Wilson played as well as Newton did horribly, completing 12 of 13 attempts in the first half, and finishing 19-of-25 for 221 yards and a touchdown. Trailing 6-3 in the third quarter, Carolina took their only lead of the game when cornerback Captain Munnerlyn intercepted a Wilson pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown. Rookie linebacker Luke Keuchly added a second interception for the Panthers defense. Wilson responded later in the quarter ...

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been criticized this season for his demeanor following losses. The second-year player was called out for conducting a postgame press conference following a Week 3 loss to the Giants where he didn’t look up while answering questions. He also reportedly held up the team’s bus after a Week 4 loss because he was sulking in the locker room...
For as much promise as Cam Newton and the Panthers showed just a season ago, they've shown nothing but disappointment so far in 2012, dropping to 1-4 following today's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Once again, Cam Newton couldn't find his rhythm, completing less than 50% of his passes on the day.
The bad news is, help is not on the way.
The Panthers have their bye...
Cam Newton’s play this year is certainly giving credence to the idea of a sophomore slump. The throw in that gif from late in the 4th quarter with a chance to get the lead virtually sums up his performances thus far this season. He hasn’t been effective in any game this year, and his attitude seems to be getting worse with each loss; perhaps expectations were too high after...
While some of you ladies might think Panthers QB Cam Newton’s suits would look best crumbled in a ball on your bedroom floor, he’s apparently decided to go in a different direction. Newton has teamed up with Belk department stores to sell his own clothing line. (Ahhh, so THAT’s what he’s been looking at on the sidelines. It clearly wasn’t defensive schemes…)MADE by...
Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton needs a hug. I just have this mental image of him sitting down in front of a baby grand piano, scooching the bench a little closer, placing his fingers upon the keys, then letting go with a long, audible sigh.A small child, eyes bright with wonder, heart bursting with love, mind overloaded with a insatiable desire for knowledge of...
From suits to sportswear to underwear, athletes across the sports spectrum have developed clothing collections. Cam Newton is the latest sportsman to foray into world of fashion design. The Caroline Panthers QB has been recognized for having a keen eye for style. Most recently he covered the September issue of GQ magazine and he’s quickly joining the ranks of the NFL’s best-dressed...
Facebook.com/CarolinaPanthersCarolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton has been going through a pretty rough season so far. After an amazing rookie campaign last year, Newton has entered to what it appears to be a “sophomore slump.”However, a lot of people are exaggerating Newton’s play this season, since it isn’t all that bad. Most people probably were expecting...
Panthers coach Ron Rivera said he believes second-year quarterback Cam Newton has been pressing and trying to hit too many downfield passes when other receivers are open underneath.
Newton had one of his worst games Sunday in a 16-12 loss to Seattle. He completed 41.4 percent of his passes (12 of 29) for 141 yards both career lows and was sacked four times.
Newton did not...
Cam Newton is not off to a great start in his second year in the NFL as starting quarterback of the Carolina Panthers. Call it a sophomore slump. Call it a fluke rookie season. Call it defenses having enough time to figure out how to plan against and stop Newton. Call it whatever you want. But Newton’s father, Cecil, says that perhaps his son is pressing, and could benefit from...
The Seattle Seahawks need their tough defense to make things easier on rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. The plan worked perfectly against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.
Wilson threw the go-ahead touchdown pass to Golden Tate late in the third quarter, while the defense frustrated Newton and the Panthers throughout Sunday's 16-12 road win.
Wilson threw for a season...
Considering the unique challenges the Carolina offense presented, Pete Carroll believes the Seattle Seahawks' defensive performance against the Panthers could be the best since he returned to the NFL as Seattle's coach in 2009.
The Seahawks leaned on their defense heavily in Sunday's 16-12 win over Carolina to make up for three turnovers early in the second half that...
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are rested and eager to resume their season.
Coaches and players reconvened Monday following a bye week that provided extra time to evaluate the team's progress through four games, focus on fundamentals in practice and make some adjustments that Greg Schiano hopes will be beneficial the final 12 weeks of the season.
The Bucs (1-3) will try to snap a...
Going for broke
On Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks take their number one ranked run game into NASCAR country to take on the Carolina Panthers.
This game is a tale of two beasts in the backfield that will hope to lead their teams to victory as both QB’s are having a rough go of it lately.
Matchup: Seattle vs. Carolina
Venue:Bank of America Stadium
Time: 1:05 PM (Local)
The Seahawks are on the road again this week taking on yet another opponent they should be able to beat in the Panthers. The lynchpin of Carolina's offense is still Cam Newton, who through four weeks has been putting up similar numbers to those from his Pro Bowl rookie season. He's getting plenty of help in the ground game from DeAngelo Williams, but his only...
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson pieced together enough on Seattle's drives into Carolina Panthers territory to make it a happy homecoming. The Seahawks won 16-12 Sunday at Bank of America Stadium, where the Panthers couldn't overcome quarterback Cam Newton's struggles. It took one touchdown for the Seahawks (3-2) to win for the first time in...
