The NFL Network is reporting that the San Diego Chargers have fired head coach Norv Turner. There has been no official word as of yet whether or not general manager A.J. Smith will be fired as well. This move comes as no surprise, Turner’s demise has been rumored for several weeks and he could see the handwriting on the wall. Turner said after Sunday’s game, “Obviously, we’re going to meet with the team and I’m sure they’ll start looking for a new team.” Smith’s firing is expected as well. Turner’s tenure with the Chargers has been chaotic. Turner, highly regarded as an offensive coordinator has struggled as a head coach. He inherited a team that went 14-2 in 2006 and steadily watched as the Chargers regressed in subsequent seasons. Turner took the Chargers to the playoffs in 2006, 2007 and 2008, but failed to qualify for post-season play in the last three seasons.He posted a career 55-40 record with the Chargers and in his NFL coaching career has amassed an overall record of 113-12...
