The Chicago Bears fired head coach Lovie Smith at the end of the regular season. Despite posting a 10-6 record, the Bears suffered through another late season slump and have now missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. Chicago has interviewed several potential replacements for Smith and according to the Chicago Tribune, the Bears have reportedly narrowed their search to three candidates. Bruce Arians, Darrell Bevell and Marc Trestman.
Bruce Arians, the Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator, became a hot coaching prospect after guiding the Colts to a 9-3 record while serving as the team’s interim head coach in Chuck Pagano’s absence. Arians has a stellar track record working with quarterbacks.
Darrell Bevell currently serves as the Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator. Seattle fielded a young, high aggressive defensive unit this season. Bevell has also interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles and reportedly will have another interview with Philadelphia this week.
