PLAYERS: Mike Mayock
If you’ve heard or read one analyst, you’ve heard them all—in my opinion—but I tend to like Mike Mayock (NFL Network) more than most as he at least seems to know what he’s talking about most of the time. That said, he recently offered his opinion on former Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones’ as a potential Top 5 pick: “Jarvis Jones, now that’s a good football player,” Mayock said. “He fits as a 4-3 outside linebacker; that’s what he played at Georgia. He’s an impactful, explosive player and he’s ready to play now – but he has a medical issue.” There is concern that Jones has stenosis in his back. “Unfortunately, there’s nothing he can do (at the combine) to alleviate the medical concern,” Mayock said. “Either he has stenosis or he doesn’t. Either it’s continuing to narrow the spine or it isn’t. Coming out of the combine, in a month or so when teams start to share medical information, we’ll know more about it.” If he checks out medically, Mayock said he’s easily
