NFL Team: Houston TexansPick No: 27Player Name: DeAndre HopkinsPosition: WRSchool: ClemsonHeight/Weight: 6’1", 214The Vitals: Hopkins has the size and speed to make a nasty duo with Andre Johnson and a great target for Matt Schaub. In 2012 Hopkins had over 1,400 yards on 82 receptions and scored 18 times! He is a true scoring machine. His build will allow him to push corners and safeties around with ease, even at the pro level. He will also be learning the ropes from a future Hall-of-Famer and one of the best current wide receivers in the league, which certainly helps.A better pick would have been: The Texans could have looked at a couple of other options here, but I think that the main idea was to get the best receiver available.Hopkins was considered by many to be the best still on the board. They could have also looked at a guy like Robert Woods out of USC, who I had slated to be taken in this spot. Getting a wide receiver should help take more pressure off of Matt Schaub while opening things up even more for one of the best running backs in the league….which is a very scary thought. The Verdict: Hopkins has the talent to be good; but he plays on a team and in a system that will allow him to be great. Of all the wide receivers taken in the first round, Hopkins will likely have the most fantasy value because he will see a lot of targets without any double-teams.Don’t expect him to outshine Andre Johnson anytime soon though. AJ should be very happy that someone will take a little bit of the pressure off of him.
