New York Jets coach Rex Ryan will be fined between $75,000 and $100,000 for cursing at a heckler during the team's Sunday night loss to the New England Patriots, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The NFL is expected to hand down the fine on Monday, eight days after Ryan told a fan to "shut the [expletive] up" while walking into the locker room at Met Life Stadium. League commissioner Roger Goodell is said to still be reviewing the incident.
Ryan's comment was a response to a fan's taunt. "Hey Rex, Belichick's better than you," the fan called out as Ryan and the Jets were walking off the field before halftime. Ryan snapped back with his retort, which drew laughs and cheers from fans. The incident was recorded by a fan, who later uploaded the clip to YouTube.
